I'm sure that I'll be playing with it quite a bit.  However, I already have a RAM mount installed from my 2620, so I'll have to see if the brake assembly is worth changing out.  I'll post pics either way!

The security screw on the 2730 is easier to gert to...but to be honest I don't bother!  Never came out other than imprpoer install once and that was before I started moving.

Keep the review coming!

I know I want one!

This is actually what the mount looks like with a "u" bolt to mount to your handlebar:

with this part attaching to the Garmin Mount:

I ordered one of these from Touratech for a cleaner install.

I'm still getting a feel for it.  It has a lot of cool features like the MP3 player and bluetooth.  I matched it up with my cell phone and it works really well.  Actually, when it's in the car mount it is a complete hands free unit with a built in microphone and speaker in the mount.  The bike mount has ouput jacks on the side for microphone and speaker out.

Coming from a Quest unit and previously a Streetpilot III, it is apparent that Garmin is "dumbing down" the usability of their units.  From what I can see, you can't do any of the detailed map configurations like the older units such as setting up your map display in detail such as how the text displays for different size cities and things of that nature or being able to customize your display as to what categories you want to see on the map screen, like speed, altitude, distance to next waypoint, etc..  There are no longer Waypoints, they are now POI's or Points of Interest.  You need to download their POI loader (free) from their website if you want to load the dealer databases.  I still have not found a way to load Harley's database that is in the Quest units.  They are .rgn files.  The Zumo accepts .gpx and .gdb files.  The Zumo will accept multiple POI files as long as you load them from the same folder.  When loaded they will be under the "Extras" folder under the "Where To?" selection from the opening screen.  Any "waypoints" that you have loaded in Mapsource will get loaded in the "Favorites" selection off the main screen.

Don't get me wrong, though.  This is a great unit!!  A bit heavier than a nuvi and it certainly seems durable.  I like the 3D mode that will show you "going down the road" with customizable icons instead of an arrow.  The icons are anything from Monster trucks to motorcycles that you can also download from the Garmin site.  The screen is a nice bright, glare resistant screen with great resolution and colors.  I'm pleased with it so far and I'm sure there are things I didn't "discover" yet about it, but so far, I like it.

Thanks for the photos...if you don't mind my asking, where did you get it from, and how much?

Thanks.

Flying Ace, can you post some pics of the unit mounted on your bike, please?  As for the security screw, I think I know why they have that...I have the HD Quest unit and it has fallen off my bike at least twice.  Once it fell off and hit the freeway and was toast.  Garmin did send me a new one, but the falling off has continued.  I added a "security screw" of my own.  Also, is there a way to mount this unit on the fairing, or is only mountable on the handlebars?  Appreciate your input, as I would like to find a unit that is reliable and looks good.  Look forward to your pics and input.

Did the Zumo come with a maps disc that you can load into your desktop for route planning?

Are the batteries rechargeable and does it come with a charger?

Let us know how the blue tooth works (cell phone) while at speed.  I assume you use your own blue tooth headset.

I purchased a hood for my street pilot because at various sun angles i couldn't see it.  Is the new screen good enough to see in all angles?

Sounds like your having a lot of fun.  Enjoy!

I don't have it on the bike yet.  I'm waiting for the chrome handlebar clamp that I ordered.

It does come with Mapsource City Navigator to plan routes and comes with a charger and a rechargeable battery.

I haven't used it on the bike yet, but when I do, I'll let you all know how it works out.

I was also wondering in regards to the battery if there is a way to hard wire it to bike for power (looking at the cradle I would think so, but wanted to make sure). In the spec sheet for the Zumo it says "Removable lithium-ion battery; up to four hours use". To me that seemed an awful short battery life it that's the only way it can be used on the scooter. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Thanks.

Sure does.  There's a four pin plug in them middle of the cradle that the plug goes into with more than enough cable to get under your seat with an inline fuse.
