CB Radio Install
« on: February 25, 2005, 11:47:48 PM »

I got started on installing a CB radio on the bike tonight .
I made an antenna bracket to fit the other side of the luggage rack like the FM antenna and used the Cb Antenna off of a RoadGlide. Im going to use a Cobra radio that has all of the controls in the mike and will plug into one location for easy removal when I dont need it. I`ll chrome the bracket if this thing gets off of the ground.

So with the GPS unit like that you'll be able to know exactly where you are when you run out of gas because you can't see the gas gauge any more  [smiley=laugh.gif] ?

The sound comes out of the hand held unit. There is a small box  thats held by velcro in the fairing that controls the unit. It has an earphone plug on it. I need to find some type  of relay that I can hook it to to overide the stereo speakers like an ultra when someone tries to talk to me. I just rode 650 miles yesterday getting back from Daytona and I could not hear the mike speaker at Hyw speed unless I held it to my ear. I would not recomend spending the money on this until I find a way to get the sound out of the fairing speakers.

Thanks for the prompt reply on the speaker issue on the CB. I have yet to find a reasonable CB install that does not require a helmet headset. I hate helmets although I wear one (not totally stupid)but I prefer a half or a rally. ON previous ultras this was no problem. I ride a number of long trips with pals with ultras and can no longer communicate . I even suspect that they are talking about me much of the time.

HELP!!!
