You can go with a Metzler 880 on the rear in 150/80-16 that will work well with stock rims and no clearance issues.  You may have to trim the plastic belt guard, but that will give you an excuse to buy a chrome cover.  More chrome is good!  The 150/80 has a lower load rating (71 vs. 77) than stock, but unless you really load up your bike (TP, heavy passenger) I wouldn't worry about it.  This tire has worked well for me for 4 years, no problems.  Hope this helps :2vrolijk_21:

Pete,

One other problem with this 150 is that you may have to clearance the belt guard.   It seems that some of the 150's wear into the belt guard and score the tire a bit.   A little dremil work and all is good.   I have had 2 rear tires that did not require it, but the last one was slightly wider than the previous 2 and well the grinding wheel was a necessity.

Harry,

I clearanced the belt guard when I first went to the 150, then installed a chrome belt guard cover.  The Metzler has a lip that does rub against the belt guard, but the Dunlop 150 doesn't have the lip, so no clearance issue at all.  I am ready for a new rear tire and will go back to the 140 with the higher load rating (77 vs 71).  When its time for changing both, then I might try the Elite 3s to see how they compare.
