I think that the only cable that needs to be replaced is the brake line. The others are fine. i did a site search and came up with some threads that discussed this and other items to be aware of:

Those older posts should answer all your questions.

Yeap, all the lines and cable will be fine except the brake line.  For that you'll need HD part number 45252-04.

I installed them and I didn't have to change any cables.

Tips or suggestions for the installation process would be helpful for future reference........ [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Especially, regarding routing the wiring thru the bars and back out.

Installation is real simple depending on how handy you are. The instructions are straight forward and having a service manual with the SE supplement is a must.  Took me about 6 hours from start to finish.

When I put a set on the wife's Fat Boy pulling the wire's thru the bars was a pain in the a$$. In hindsight I should have bored out the factory opening under the handle bar clamp. I imagine it would be twice as tough to feed all the additional wires on a SEEG  thru a similiar opening ????  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

I can't speak for the fatboy bars, but the 575 openings don't require any modification.  You will need to remove the stock connectors at the ends of the wiring harness.  If you have the supplemental manual you don't have to mark the wires to remember which go where at assembly.  With the connectors off you can wrap some picture hanging wire around the connector pins and snake the other end of the wire through the bars to pull the harness through the bars.  Coat the insulation sheathing on each wiring harness with windex which actually serves as a lubricant (believe it or not) making it easier to snake the harness through by pulling on the picture wire while guiding the harness through the handgrip opening.  Since it will seem like you need at least three hands to get this done, mount the handlebar, using the handlebar clamps, in a vise so you can use one hand to pull the wire on one end and the other to feed the harness.  Take your time, it is easy.  If you need to know more. just let me know.  Good luck!

Pete,

Thanks for all the input!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I did my last install almost exactly as you said. Getting the initial wires from the left side was easy. But trying to pull the right side pins thru I had trouble with how much space was available to get them the back out the opening..... (also learned to feed all wires turn signal's included at the same time).

Also I cheated a little by not using a manual for the wiring/plug assembles. I just looked at the opposite end of the connector's still attached to the wire harness on the bike and replaced them accordingly.

I was almost going pass on switching out the bars on the SEEG since I had so much fun the last time around.......but thanks to your input I may give it a go this winter.
