Oh ok... I had a 550 and you could take all the wires off both of the mounts and if you needed to plug it in then you just plug the wire into the cradle.

I am fairly certain that you can unscrew the cradle and take the wire harness off the cradle. I left it on as I use the MP3 player and plug that into the HD radio so I can listen to my tunes and hear any direction the GPS has to give me

Unfortunately, you can't unplug the wiring harness from the GPS cradle like you can with the 550.  A couple of people on here have made their own removeable by putting an in-line connector so they can disconnect and take the cradle off.  Mine is hardwired and I just leave it on the mount and put the cover on when the GPS isn't attached.

I knew I read it somewhere and I found it. Yes you can remove teh cable from the mount cradle;

Oops, just read the rest of that thread, you could remove it, but you would have to cut the seal to do so. My bad, it cann be done, but it's not reversable either  :oops:
