Title: Wheel swap
Post by: Pmc on January 12, 2024, 01:54:00 PM
I have a 2019 CVO RG with a factory 21" front wheel.  Thinking about swapping it to the 19" factory front wheel.  Has anyone done this?  If so, details (pros and cons) please.  Thanks,

I had a friend that had an '18 CVO RG that did not like the heavier weight of the 21" front wheel. He beat himself up during his younger years racing bikes and it gave him problems. He ended up trading off that bike for another shark without it and was much happier with the lighter wheel up front. I have never ridden a bike with a 21 up front so I can't give first hand comparisons between the two different sizes.

I must be an idiot, I can't tell the difference between my 19 CVO RG and my 12 CVO RG. Ride 1 on Sat and the other on Sun

I didn't think there was much of a difference between a CVO RG with a 19" front wheel and a CVO RG with the 21".  The Forks internals are 1" shorter on the CVO RG with the 21"  This is to keep rake and trail the same.  The 21" may ride slight firmer due to less travel and less tire side wall.

To go to a 19, he would need long fork springs I believe to keep rake and trail the same.
