Shipping Date / Delivery Date
« on: October 12, 2004, 06:22:05 PM »

Today is the day my dealer says the new Red Ride will be shipped.
How long does it normaly take for Harley to get a bike to the dealer after the Shipping date.

Thanks,

Just picked up a service manual, parts catalog and suplementary catalog for the 103.
Should give me something to read while I wait out the next few days.
I just cant believe the 05 has dot 4 juice for the brakes instead of good old dot 5 that wont take off paint.

Some of the 05 touring bikes (police bikes) have ABS as an option.  Apparently we're working toward ABS (availability) on all touring models in the next couple of years.  That means no more DOT5.  Silicone fluid is very bad about entraining air (that's why it's such a chore to bleed and why you can't pump the pedal or handle hard or fast when you do).  The pump in the ABS system will agitate the fluid.  That'll cause air problems and a soft pedal.  So the choice eventually becomes ABS or DOT5.

I wish that since ABS isn't an option on models generally this year that civilian bikes would still have been provided with DOT5.  But one would suppose the mftr is worried that different specs in the same family of bikes will too readily lead to folks mixing the fluids (like that won't happen across year models).
