I bought one in 2001 when I couldn’t patch together my shovel head any more when the frame broke. Money was short, so I got it and added a few things as I went along. The 2001 had a ultra 2 up seat which appears to be the only difference from the new one. I’m glad to see them bring it back as it’s a great starter touring bike and I never understood why they discontinued it.

Good idea to bring this one back. Starts at $18,999 - more affordable for more buyers.

Just have to hope it doesn't sump, allow fluid migration, hav......    ah, never mind.

Good on Harley for recognizing that not every touring bike has to be maximized and that the need to do more to bring in entry level riders or riders that want to travel but can't or won't throw 30-40k at a motorcycle.

I concur!  Great move on their part!  Slap on your phone for GPS if you need it and Bluetooth earphones and you are there!

Good news for younger riders and people that don't want to sink $$$$ in the pricier ones..

I liked the standard when it came out years ago and felt like the MoCo cancelled it because there wasn't enough profit margin in it.  I'm guessing they decided any profit is good profit in these times.

It's a good looking standard scooter and, in my opinion, makes for a much better, less expensive canvas to paint upon if'n you want to make it your own than say buying a $45K moderscoot and then start to mold.... :2vrolijk_21:

You could look at it as a two for one sale for first buyers,.......20k for a new tourer and plenty left over in that 25k  for the down payment on a new house.

You're happy and the the little ladies happy  :huepfenlol2:

Yes. Will eat into SG sales no doubt.  2 friends years ago this was the only model they would buy. Did very little customization to them, sometimes cams.  For some these are a blank canvas, for others they are ok out of the crate.

I like the way it looks too, the tank badge is simple but looks better than most of their badges (IMHO).  I really like the shorter fender on the rear b/c it shows more of that fat tire.  Idk if it’s priced low enough to really attract enough buyers to make it worth introducing a “new” model but for the MoCo to introduce a model with a lower price is a step in the right direction.

Don't really see this as a "new" model... to me it's a "reintroduction" of a discontinued model. :nixweiss:

Still,....$19k is a lot to pay for a bare-bones bike. There are a lot of good used Ultras and RoadGlides out there for less than $19K. Just sayin',....

True and Harley Davidson has it knowledged that saying that the longevity and timelessness of their bikes has hurt sales on new bikes. The main thing is that a first time buyer who wants a touring bike can’t typically get long-term financing on a used bike that they can on a brand new bike.

This price point puts them cheaper than any touring model offered by Indian, their closest competitor.
