2000 SE Road Glide production #?
« on: October 29, 2009, 09:25:24 PM »

I picked up a 2000 Road Glide SE back a few years ago. I did so knowing the 2000 was the 1st SE made. How can I tell what production run # my bike is? I know there was 600 made that 1st year and would love to know when mine came off the line. BillSERGHD

Bill,

Everyone seems confident in the overall production.  That number is documented both as Gary cited in the post above and that number matches numbers cited elsewhere.  I do not think, however, we have any way of knowing a particular production order for a specific bike.  The frames apparently weren't grabbed in consecutive order and then set back for the entirety of the model year to be used as needed.  Frames were apparently scheduled as needed throughout the production year.  So the VINs for the CVO bikes, while sequential within overall production, aren't lined up like ducks in a row to make it easy for us.

The tag on the downtube will give you the month and year, but that's as close as you're going to get.

Never really understood the interest in knowing which exact number a  bike came off the line in relation to the others in a low-production run, though. I've got what looks to be a sequentially-high numbered VIN on my (one of 64) blue FXR3 and I've joked that it might just be the last blue 3 ;D, but even if that's so and could be documented as such, I'm not sure it would anything to the value.  Just be "interesting," I guess. :nixweiss:

In my research I have been doing for the Triple Red I found that there were 730 Orange/White/Black SERG :2vrolijk_21: produced and 685 Three Tone Red SERG :pepper: produced for the 2000 production year.  I contacted Deeley"s here in Canada to inquire to the number of Triple Reds imported into Canada and that number was 36.  At the time I was only researching the Triple Red so I didn't ask for the import numbers for the O/B but the number for Deeley's customer service department is 905-660-3500 if you are interested in that figure.  They were unable to tell me where my bike was in respect to numbers coming off the line.   :pepper:

Thanks Ogri  :)  That is overlooking the lower end of the Niagara river where it flows into Lake Ontario
