The 'snakeskin' area of my 2011 CVO Street Glide seat (part #54181-11) is starting to peel.
The top layer of the embossed portion of the seat is starting to peel, like sunburned skin, revealing a suede-like leather material below.
Anyone else experience this problem?
Thanks

Oh boy.....if the amp and the faded speaker grills was not enough....ish.
Almost 24 000km and my seat is ok.

Yep, snakes shed their skin every year. ???
Sorry, couldn't resist. :nixweiss:

Mine hasn't peeled yet..although it doesn't get much ride time sitting on a shelf in the garage :huepfenlol2:

11,000+ miles so far and no peeling. Then again it's garaged when i'm not riding it and I only weigh 160 lbs.
Keep us in the loop if HD covers this under warranty.

I noticed a small defect in the paint on my tank under the clear coat. Dealer is contacting Harley in regard to replacing the tank.

Is this relevant because the tank is close to the seat? ::)
No peeling here. But I did read that the seat can wrinkle if exposed to water and then sun, so I cover my seat with a large garbage bag when I wash the bike.

Mine is in a box too.

snakes shed their skin often. I asked the service dept. and they said this is normal. Live with it.

65k miles and no peeling yet. However, it does have some splits starting on the top of the seat just behind the gas tank on the outer edge.

Indian Roadmaster and Chieftains have a huge problem with the fake leather peeling on their seats and they’re super expensive. My in laws seat on his 2017 looks like hell. Harley uses real leather.

The small, quarter-sized, peeling on my CVO seat looks nothing like that. It's really hard to see. If I didn't tell you, you probably wouldn't even notice.
Regardless, that bike is gone.
I still have the CVO seat. If anyone would like it, send me a PM.
Thanks

There's more than one kind of "real" leather. Laminated leather products are kind of like laminated "real" wood flooring, a thin layer of real material bonded to cheap stuff. There have been tons of complaints in the furniture industry about all those leather chairs and sofas they sell with laminated leather that peel, just like some of Harley's seats.

Mine isn't peeling, but the seams are sure stretched.

That's what the Indian Seat is, "laminated leather"

Realize that this is a really old thread but for you guys that still have one....
I had the same seat "enhanced" by Rich's Leather back in the day with gel and had the vinyl replaced with real leather. That particular 2011 CVO SG seat has a vinyl cover on it but the faux snakeskin leather insert is real leather. FWIW
