I put NGK Iridium's in mine about 11,000 miles ago and IMO are a lot better than Champion plugs.  They are as fine a plug as you can buy for any vehicle.    :soapbox:

here is some info that I found out and wanted to pass along to folks ....when your order #4179 ...DCPR8E  ...tell them you want solids ...they will come with the tips solid ..in other words the tips wont screw off and this will help eliminate  false ion reading due to loose tips

I do believe it made a difference, not sure why maybe a more controlled burn in the cylinder?

I'd really like someone to explain how these plugs could possibly effect the "control" of burn of the fuel/air mixture in the cylinder.  Like Forrest Gump said " I might not be a smart man but . . . "

Interesting, I wonder if a dab of red loctite would interfere with anything  :nixweiss:   Just because I'm sure if you found a deal from someone other than NGK (online vendor) I doubt they'd be able to fulfill request unless there was a different part number altogether.

Anyone know what the ION Sensing is supposed to be on the spark plugs in relation to HD and the ECU.   I know that the Champion/HD's are much higher than a lot of the good name brands and some form of ION Sensing is supposed to be necessary for the ECU.

All the recent NKG 7 and 8 plugs I have received have had the permanent attached tops.

FWIW. A NGK rep told me they make some plugs for HD. Not all but some.  I can only assume which ones.

Anyone measure the resistance between the stock HD plugs with NGK, Autolite, etc?
If the resistance is the same as the HD plugs you should be able to use them as a replacement.

If you don't measure the resistance y'all are guessing at what will happen to timing and retards good and false.

HD plugs are the standard by which others are to be compared as to ignition control because that's what was used to design the ion sensing.

NGK stock replacement plugs are made to the specks to call them that.  Yes, even resistance.   In my understanding of the ION sensing.  It's going to take more than a couple ohms.

IME  I haven't seen the 7's or 8's cause any ill affect to spark retard as long as the rules are followed.

Thanks Jason. That's what we've found as well. We sell NGK now.

Those NGK's are our choice here as well.
I'll also add that on engines with ccp's at/north of 180 ccp, setting the gap at .035" with those DCPR8E's has shown incremental increases here on our dyno. :2vrolijk_21:
