Between 17 and 18 the blue 17 would still be my choice!!

I thought that matte finish had already run it's course. As usual, the MoCo is always late to the party. :nixweiss:
-
I am trying to figure out is the exhaust on the 2 tone grey/blk like a brushed nickel or is it chrome?
-
The worst colors on the SG/RG I've ever seen. I'm not biased either, because my all time least favorite color is green. The MoCo even made me a believer with the beautiful Kryponite SG in 2011. Jeez, MoCo executives and designers must be participating in too many meth binges if they think these 18 colors are nice looking.

They're not cvo are they?
-
I'll keep my broke dick 2012, make it a 113. I've alread fixed or replaced most all the other poor parts, and the voltage regulator.
-
Looks like they have axed the twin cool or at least moved the radiator to the lower center? :confused5:
Also looks like the Lower Fairings have been redesigned into some acoustic chambers with some cool new speakers?? :nixweiss:
Gotta agree - Not a fan of the paint on any of them!

I do like the Red Accent on the Heads :)

The other two colors I could live with if they gave me one, but this one seems unfished, like they forgot to paint it after primer.

The irony of all of this is when customers buy these new CVO's some will wind up on this site.
Everyone will say "Oh what a beautiful bike."
Happens every year.
I love my Harley's and hope for the best to those that buy an 18.
For someone to spend $42K+ to get a CVO they deserve what they get!

Yes I added them to mine. HD makes a kit...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170823/9d7e90ffe096199d376fa70d4bf9abab.jpg)

Those design engineers are like meteorologist, they both do a crappy job and can still keep their job.
-
I do like the upgrades like the 117 and the Lower fairing speakers but is $2000 more price tag worth it
-
From the beginning of the CVO program the only better thing is the profit margin for Harley! The bikes have not change enough to charge 35-40k for them. I love the brand but feel cheated on what we get for our dollars. Keeping my 10 CVO FLHXSE in Blue. I'll refresh it for a fraction of the cost of a new OLD BIKE! Less chrome and higher Price. I like powder coating, however we know the cost of powered coating is a lot less than chrome. So why so much more for the price. The electronics are a nightmare waiting to happen and huge service bill for us to pay. I love technology as long as it is reliable. Not the case with HD!

You'd have more than $2000 in a 117 upgrade, correct? So makes it easy on the HD side to justify the cost increase. Now I'm a realist and I know it costs HD very close to $0 more to make it a 117 since its at initial assembly and the parts are of negligible price difference. But on paper they can claim they're saving you thousands.

That's a NAVY BIKE. They need to add the Serial Number in black paint on the front fender and a Star on the tank. :D
-
Harley does not save you a dime they just get in our pockets for negligible upgrades that could have been offered for the initial cost. MARKETING. Is no longer the American Freedom Dream is enslavement to continue our quest for a reliable high power American made dream bike.

Yes, I did and its not cheap but sounds great.

Was really excited at 1st when I saw the speakers in the lowers, thinking that HD designed a speaker pod to fit our twin liquid cooled bikes. But have since read where the '18 SG CVO are not liquid cooled, thus the lower fairing are the vented style. Really dont care for the small 4" optional speakers that just mount in the hatch on the flat panel. Prefer the custom fitted look with use of the 6.5's

I put Focal 6.5's in my lowers with the radiators. Just need the adaptor which was cheap

Did you relocate the overflow bottle? I know someone did in order to add speakers, dont recall if it was you.

Was at a local dealer today and they had a 2 tone cvo sg in grey. Just looked cheap to me. The bottom color that was denim looked and felt like a sticker that was add after the fact. Not sure about the all black either. One of the reasons I got mine was because of all the chrome and it looks different in the crowd, you can tell it is a cvo. Congrats to anyone that gets one and enjoys it, just not my cup of tea.
-

No, I had swapped both amps for the Arc 600 series and ran both sets of front speakers off front amp.
-
Just curious SDCVO. We're the ARC 600 amps plug and play or did you have to retire everything, also I assume you installed 4 ohm speakers as well?
IF SO I BET THAT THING ROCKS :bananarock:

Which dealer had it? I wanted to see one in person. Thanks.

I had the system professionally installed and they did rewire. System sounds amazing at all speeds and I wear a ff helmet with CFR mufflers

Was just at the dealer today and got to see the two tone grey SG. Harley website doesn't do the bike justice. Nice looking bike only two things I didn't like was the color of the exhaust and the transition to denim, the denim feels like a decal. I'll give Harley a B+ on this color combo.

Bike looks really nice in the sun. The transition to denim has the slight raise like a decal because the gloss and clear coat has to be done before you and paint the denim. Not sure how that could be done so it didn't feel like that.

Excerpt:
10. The glossy/denim dual paint treatment is expensive and was tricky for Harley-Davidson to develop. Harley-Davidson was rightfully proud of Custom Vehicle Operations’ ability to put gloss and denim paint side-by-side on the bags, fairing, and fenders. However, the result isn’t what the designers likely expected. When I saw it, I thought the denim-painted portions were a sticker—not very CVO-like. I queried various uninformed observers, and they all though the denim patches were stickers. Even when you run your finger on it, it feels like a sticker due to the transition. It’s a tour de force technically, but it doesn’t have the desired premium appearance. Check it out in person and decide for yourself.

I'm at the dealer now with the HD tractor trailer full of 18s. They have all three models of the touring line here. The ultra in the faded red color isn't bad, the other two SG/RG are absolutely hideous. In the back of the dealership, they are prepping a RG to sell. It's the same color as the SG, lol. When did the MoCo share exact colors between different models in the same year? What a joke.
