Has anyone with the blacked out front forks had a problem with the powercoat chipping off? Mine started chipping at 1000 miles and by the time I had 3k on it there were several spots that had chipped off. I called customer service and sent them pictures and the told me it is rock chips. NOT COVERED. I ask for a manager to call me back and I have not gotten a call in 3 weeks. The dealer already knew of the problem and knew I was pissed. They took care of it but I think that Harley should have. Powercoat if its done correctly should not chip before the paint does.

At least the dealer fixed it. Harley always has some excuse why it's not their fault...

You're scaring me, Ronnie. I just bought a 2018 FLTRXS that is all black. I'll be watching my front forks like an eagle now.

Has to make you wonder how thin the powder is being laid on. A good 4-5 mil thick powder application should hold up much better than paint.

Either that or it's actually just painted on, Don. Bad/poor prep of the surface before paint/powder?
Oh wait, it can't be that. The MoCo has already said "rock chips" so no coverage....sorta like "salt water" caused the paint issues a few years ago....so let it be written, so let it be done.... ;D

There are times you can't help but think that if the MoCo produced porn all the people would be clothed, old and playing board games (badly).

Several manufacturers powder coat front suspension components, it is tougher than paint. If it’s chipping off I would question the prep work.
