Guess maybe I'm clueless but read at another forum that all '07 CVO models except the E-Glide come with a freer breathing air filter? Went to the H-D corporate website and looked at the features of the SERK. All it mentions is "New round air cleaner cover with custom insert." Skimming the owner's manual the other day didn't see anything on this. Anyone have some info on this?

I got up just to answer this. Thanks guys. The '07 SERK comes w/ open SE A/C assembly. You should change the element to K&N #HD-0800 and you're good to go. AJ, you could have done that! ;) Hoist! 8)

Is there that much of a performance difference between using the SE A/C assembly as is and changing to the use of the K&N element?
-
Yep, what he said.
I even had the service manager tell me it came with a high flow air filter. After receiving input from the forum, i checked it my self and it wasn't a high flow air filter. Changed it to the HD-0800. :2vrolijk_21:

Guys, the Hi-flow filter refers to the open back SE air cleaner assembly. Replacing the filter element itself probably does little for performance, although the K&N flows a little better. It is however, a much better, cleanable, reusable filter that has a lifetime guaranty. I use them on every vehicle and swear by them. Hoist! 8)

Thanks much. Still in the slow reader's group however... Is the air cleaner accompanying the '07 SERK a freer breathing unit than the one coming with stock '07 H-D's?
Thx, Steve

Yes, the SE's aircleaner is a freer breathing unit. Next time you are in the shop, look behind the stock aircleaner cover and you will see the filter is in a black casing (air intake along the bottom if I remember correctly), compared to the SE's where the filter is exposed w/o the casing and able to breath from all around.

Ahhh. Thanks much.
