Good day group. On my 2013 CVO it has a factory ipod with the old style 30pin connector. I have a newer ipod with the "lightning" small blade connector. I bought an apple adapter but the bikes radio does not recognize the iopd. Anyone know what to do.
And secondly I saw this under my tour pack when I installed my new license plate on the bike (see attached image) I was wondering if this is the standard location for the radio amp or is this an upgraded amp?
Thanks group!

No help on the ipod. The amp is in the standard location for a 2013.

Cool, one mystery down, lol! :2vrolijk_21:

I have used a newer ipod with a lightning connector with the old style ipod interface on both my 2013 cvo and my wife's 2012 with the ipod interface installed. the adapter I bought off of amazon for just a couple of bucks, not the 'official' apple one.
similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Female-Adapter-Converter-Charge/dp/B078TGWLPX/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1523994661&sr=8-22&keywords=30+pin+to+lightning+adaptor

Not the ideal amp location, my opinion. The large plug on the side of my amp would occasionally have a bad connection. Pushing the plug in firmly always worked to correct that issue.

Good luck with that iPod. I think mine is a pain in the ass! lol After loading 300 songs to it, it is hard to navigate through them.

Thanks again group :2vrolijk_21:

In my owners manual it said that it only recognizes the nano i-pod which is not the one I had. So I bought newer nano but has the small hook up on it and never hooked it up, I didn't know they made that adapter for it. I might but the adapter and see if it works

it isn't so much that it only works with the nano, it's just that the nano is the recommended ipod. it should work with anything except the shuffle. I've used an old iPhone as an ipod and had no problems. they definitely do not recommend the older hard drive based ipods due to the extreme vibrations on the bike.
