Title: 08 to 09 handlebars
Post by: dlaws01 on October 25, 2013, 10:18:31 PM
Do any of you know if the handlebars on the 08 springer are the same part number as the 09?   :nixweiss:  If not, do the 09 handlebars have more pull back than the 08?  Finding 1.25 diameter handlebars that don't have the smaller diameter where they fit at the risers is difficult.  I'm just trying to get maybe another inch rise and one or two inches more pull back so it's not as far a reach.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi,

The 08 and 09 are different part numbers. The 08 handlebar has less rise than the 09 handlebar.

They both have the same pull back, but in my opinion the 08 is the nicer handlebar and feels 100% better to ride with.

I fitted the 08 handlebars to my 2009 Springer with the Risers and tacho installation as well.

I know "Fisheye" had some handlebars that had some more pull back on them.  See previous thread under "show us your best springer pic" (page 19)on the last few pages of the thread..  He has a blue Springer with pull back rises built into the handlebars..

Best regards...

Thanks, I was thinking about keeping the original 08 risers and just using the 09 handlebars to get that extra inch up/back that it feels would be a little more comfortable.  :2vrolijk_21:

I think there are several threads in this sub forum about swapping 08 & 09 parts.

The 09 that I have had Carlini Super Sweep bars installed.  They were the 9" pullback version.  They cleared the tank just fine and the console.  I prefer apes, so I actually just removed them.

The downside with a bar like this, is that you need to replace the triple tree top plate with a springer adapter plate.  Springer risers are too owed, and the adapter top plate is designed to use 3.5" risers, which are normal spacing.  The best part of that is that you can run virtually any bar/riser combo with the new plate installed.

Here is a picture of the bars.  I actually just sold them.  As usual with Carlini, the quality was great.

Here you go...

Mostly complete.  This was from when I was test fitting the tank and the position of the bars.

As it sits now, the tank is still off.  I'll get a build thread posted later, once I complete all the stuff.  I've been dragging on this one because I was waiting for a few tools to remove the rear wheel and subsequently the Power Commander V.

Anyway, sorry for the hijack....

Hi,

Yes you are correct, If you use your 08 risers with a set of 09 handlebars, you will get that extra inch of pullback..

Ther 09 Handlebars do have more pullback than the 08 handlebars if you use the same risers..

Sorry if I confused you..

Best regards,..

Thanks, That was what I was thinking.  Now maybe, if I'm lucky, find an 09 owner that has changed out their handlebars and don't mind selling their stock ones.   ;)
