SE 259E cams
« on: December 09, 2015, 08:51:50 PM »

Has anybody get installed 259E cams and exhaust on a CVO 110 " ? Looking for a little more jam but don't want to touch the motor.

I had a 259 in an '08 CVO Road King. If you're an aggressive rider it's a great cam. You will lose some torque in the low RPM range compared to stock but it will pull like a beast above 3 grand.

It will be a dog down low unless modifications are done, higher compression

No idea about those but I've got the GMR performance Genesis 577's and love them. I say that now it runs like a stock CVO should have.

had it in my 103'' and it pulls after 3000rpm , I was no happy with it at low speed, but when you hit 3k better hold on...I would suggest GMR 577 it has a lot low end torque and hold it till end ... (have it my cvo rk find somewhere dyno I posted here...)

I would consider installing the Stage 3 upgrade kit for your 110. This will help the 259e cam performance. If you want lower end torque / HP consider the SE 585 cam. I attached the SE cam performance graph. Its based on a stock 103 motor. If you look at all HD SE  motor Stage performance kits, the 259e cam is popular. Many options and opinions out there, GOOD LUCK.

And if you want to meet or exceed the se255 for all around performance a little headwork and the SE585 at 10.5 will amaze you with results.

If you're just wanting to do cams and not tear into the top end, the Kuryakn 24D is an excellent cam. I have it in my '15 CVORG and a '12 CVORG. You will keep the low end, but be able to pull hard on up to 5k with everything else stock.

The 259s like more compression (10.5-1) than stock...

More than that. Much the same as the old SE257 on different LC 10.8 is better

We did a 113 kit with the 259 cam and a dd fat cat . Now this is the only kit I built this way. However the parts matched up to make some killer tq.. I have no idea IF it would work with other ex systems. But here it is to take a look at ...  as for the 259 in a stock 110 not a cam for low end tq as already stated.

We did a 113 kit the rest was in fact stock no mods at all.. That tq curve was outstanding. Myself not a huge 259 fan but I have to say in that build it shocked me at how well it ran..

Steve
haven't seen a tq curve like that before with a 259
do you recall whether it was the louvered baffle or the perforated baffle in the fatcat ?
Thanks

I do not recall now.. but the shape of the curve makes me think its the louvered .. The perf baffle is not great for making low end tq .. no idea why they went that way..
