I call it my Honda Davidson. It DOES pull nice from start to 3500 rpm but it just isn't a Harley experience. All I hear is wind.  I haven't had any problems and just turned over 1000 mi. The clutch sucks but that's my only real complaint. 15 in. Windshield reflects the CVO LED but that's in the Street Glide section. I kept my 04 Pumpkin  :pumpkin: for those times when I need to be reminded what a Harley used to be.

It pulls hard. I still don't like how you can feel the shifting in the clutch lever. And the clutch hits too late for my taste. I enjoy riding it more now that I have some sound coming from it thanks to my new Cobra neighbor hater slip on's. I Love the Motor. That being said, I agree with CVODave, It sure doesn't idle like my '04 Pumpkin did.

Like it a lot!  :2vrolijk_21:  Still bone stock, no mods yet.  Good low end torque, power comes on quick.  Can tell there is more TQ/HP to be had in the motor with the right mods.  Clutch took some getting used to, fine now, just a different feel than the older hydro clutches. So far reliability is 100% here.  Know a few folks who have them, know of no major issues firsthand from them.

I like the quieter motor, does not sound like it is about to grenade - realize some prefer that from the older HD motors.  Never cared for the squirrel cage full of rocks rattle - gota get a set of loud pipes to cover up the motor racket because....They All Do That.  Also like the quiet stock pipes so far, less noise fatigue on longer rides.

Suspension is excellent and is far and away the best ride from HD in that regard.

Can't please everyone that's for sure but it pleases me immensely.  The motor is much stronger than the 110s I've owned and some say it falls off after 3,500 but it seems plenty strong to me.  I seldom rev over 4k and usually below 3,500 so what I'm looking for is stump pulling torque and this 114" M8 has that in spades.  Passing on the highway requires dropping down one gear (if even that) at most.  I'm usually cruising in 6th by the time I'm running 60 - heck maybe a bit below that even.

As for the clutch the release point is OK with me as I've had hydro clutches on all my H-Ds since 2005.  And feeling the gear change in the clutch lever is more an issue with the A&S clutch than the M8 motor as far as I can tell.  Kinda felt funny at first but now I'm used to it.  No biggie.

Only thing I don't particularly like is the idle.  It is way too low imo and is just not like the Harleys I've know and loved.  Dealer service manager told me (and I have confirmed) that having EITMS enabled and having it go active will actually make it idle better.  Even though it drops the rear cylinder it does speed up the idle a bit.  And from what I've seen recently with temps in the upper 70s and low 80s it goes active quite frequently.  I imagine with the summer heat it'll go active at each stop.

All in all for me this is absolutely the best stock motor I've experienced in a Harley.  And the improved suspension is a big, big plus also.

Added:  Mine just turned over 8k with no issues at all.  Sure hoping it stays that way!

The low idle itself is not a problem.  It just seems 'funny.'  Guess I'll get used to it the longer I ride it and actually it isn't a problem - just an observation.

15,000 miles so far on my 2017 CVO Street Glide. Other than an occasional slow speed stumble it runs great. Very smooth and lots of usable tq down low. As others have said it runs out of steam early.

2017 CVO Street Glide and love everything about it.  The clutch is great - big sweet spot.  I still have my 2000 Fat Boy with cable clutch and like that too.

Still breaking it in but the acceleration is great.  First bike with tunes for me so the quiet pipes / engine don't bother me - The Fat Boy gets me my loud fix when needed.

Hasn't stalled on me but the idle does seem dangerously low.  As long as it doesnt die on me I am fine with it.  Once the warranty is up will be about the time I saved enough money to go stage 1 & 2 so the tune should fix this idle issue.

I think the motor is a complete home run. Considering this is the first year I have had virtually no problems which amazes me. I went in  eyes wide open being it was a new motor design and was just figuring on the hassle of multiple issues and after 6000 miles I honestly am surprised and pleased. Performance wise a huge improvement over the twin cam with great potential. Cant wait for S&S to come up with their version!

Just over 11,000 miles on my 17 CVO Street Glide.  I'm really happy with it.  Best down low power of any stock except slip ons of any Harley I had owned.  The occasional low end stumble is about the only motor issue.  I really like the motor.

I put 200 miles on my 2017 107 RG yesterday in extremely heavy winds. New combination of parts, pre production MX Pipe, 2.0 baffles, TTS 100 cam, Heavy Breather AC. This combo makes 115 FT pounds at 2800.Rode 40 MPH headwinds uphill in 6th on cruise no problem. Very smooth and quiet. Motor is completely happy being loaded in the low 2K rpm range. I have about 400 dyno pulls on this one, so far so good. I did check the crank run out on the last cam swap, .006. I was hoping for better, some things may never change.

I love how quiet :) the motor is. pulls good for a stock motor. I do miss a little more note from after market pipes. Clutch lets out a little toward the end for my liking but I will get used to it. my only gripe is the dummy plug on top the trans keeps leaking. been leaking since new. been in twice and still leaks. but on the bright side the lemon law will kick in here soon and I will get a new one. LOL :)

Absolutely love my CVO 114 !!  Simply an amazing bike. The clutch is the only negative, operates at nearly full extend with 3/4 inch operating range. Horrible.
Motor is brilliant but I'm going the stage 4 kit shortly.

I'm going to look into removing material from the lever at the plunger contact to bring it back a little. A friend of mine actually bent his lever slightly close to the pivot. I'm not that brave, mine would snap off!

If you do, would you please post pics?  Have gotten used to the clutch, but an improvement on pull/engage would be nice.

I'm not that brave either ! I'm in discussions with Oberon levers UK to get some adjustable levers. They want me to remove mine off my bike and send them pics ! Seriously if someone comes up with a direct replacement set of adjustable leavers they will absolutely clean up !

I don't want to hijack this thread but I've cut a few hydraulic clutch levers to move the engagement point closer to the bars. I'll shoot you an email later today and show you what's worked for me.

Sounds good!

Just coincidentally, my helper Bill just came back from a used parts run in Phoenix with a pile of warranty clutch cylinders assemblies from the 2014 recall. Apparently they were replacing the entire handlebar control as a unit. If that's the same clutch lever, I have more than a few to play with. :2vrolijk_21:
