Suggested Final Gear Ratio for Touring 124" Motor
« on: June 17, 2017, 06:08:31 PM »

   My FXR4 with S&S V111 ran fine 90k miles with 3.12 5th gear and .86 6th Over Drive for 2.683 . Bike runs 82 mph at 3k.
36/25=1.44, 65÷30=2.166 x 1.44= 3.12 5th gear times. 86 sixth gear Over Drive = 2.68 final ratio.
I figured on my Road King with V124  I would go taller.
36÷25=1.44, 70÷34=1.91×1.44=2.75 fit gear times .86 sixth gear Over Drive = 2.36. Opps!  I guess in a few weeks I will know how it works out. Or did I screw up on the Math? It won't hurt my feelings if someone corrects me on the math.

Math was wrong. 70÷34=2.0588×1.44=2.964 fit gear. X.86=2.549
Sixth gear. This should put me about 85 at 3k rpm. I think.  I surely miss the old Baker Drivetrain online Calculator.

Thanks for the info. Baker has a new one that replaces the old one.
My gearing going to be tested next week when bike us finnished and broken in after 1,000 miles or so. It's very close to my FXR4 CVO with a V111,  the RK is 750 lbs dry compared to the FXR4 at 590 dry. But the RK has  V124. I can't wait  to break in the motor!
