My new Indian !
« on: August 13, 2017, 01:36:41 AM »

As a few of you know from Facebook, I ventured out and bought an Indian Limited addition Jack Daniels bike # 20 of a 100 made, haven't given up on my Harleys but for me I've always loved the look of and Indian. And have to say so far it's been great the ride is awesome Nav, sound system way better then Harley, it's lighter then my Ultra and lower to the ground so much easier to handle. I still need to get some engine work done Cat, Pipes, Jackpot makes a really nice head pipe and I think I'm going with Rinehart slip on's and to help a little more Woods WI-555 cams it's a little harder to find a good shop that will work on them but with a little digging I came up with one! Have to say the dealership I bought it at is Holister Powersports, in Holister Ca. They so far have been a dream to work with, Because I bought a bike there I get 10% off everything parts and labor, and clothing. Buy a part and the guys install it while you wait no extra charge. It had the cut up fender so as part of the deal I got the classic Indian head and fender, a tour pak all painted to match the bike. I have a couple of Pic's one before and one after with fender and tour pak. As I get more miles on it I'll post some of the Pro's & Cons Vis the Harley.

Notice the harley type fender, and NO Tour Pak! check out the next Pic!

The tour pak and fender change the look of the bike much more than I expected them to. That is just an outstanding look Don.  Congratulations on having such a nice bike there. :2vrolijk_21:

I'm not a big Indian fan but for some reason that bike looks fantastic. Looks even better with the tour pack and the old style fender.

Very nice.  I bought a Roadmaster in '16.  Very nice riding bike.  Before choosing cams, look at Lloydz.  They just release two versions for the 111.  Nice torque curve in the 2-3000 rpm range.  Jackpot headers, hi flow A/C, PowerVision CX, and a dyno tune or map, you'll be good to go.

I started to ask something about iron butting an Indian. Then realized it sounded totally inappropriate.  So I didn't.

I'm probably in the minority here but no tour pack and the stock fender looks better to me. The one in blue looks great. Bushtec has a hitch so no tourpack is not an issue. Plus a blue one matches my trailer.

Great looking bike.  I like it better stock.  I would have added the tour pack for trips but kept the stock front fender.  Still fantastic looking bike.

walked the Indian displays at Sturgis a few times I thought they did a pretty good job showing their bikes.  Would I be interested in buying at this point, No.  Though the fit and finish is better than the Victory line of Polaris bikes, much better actually.  For me anyway the Indian cruisers are a bit to exaggerated and clubby looking.  I thought the most interesting were there sport bikes now those looked like fun....

Thanks Guys ! Still trying to decide what is the best route to go with mods, so far there isn't a Fulsac Steve in the Indian crowd to get these bikes running like they should, I'm not saying the Indians are the way to go or trying to get you to sell your  Harleys I still have two in the garage, but if your bored some weekend go down and test ride one I think you'll be as surprised as I was.

Yeah, that's what I thought too...front end looks heavy, probably handles clunky.  Took a test ride, boy was I surprised.  Very nimble, low center of gravity...

Great Looking Ride Don... Welcome to the Tribe. I made the move to Indian last October so far the bike is great. The fender and Tour Pak are a great addition  to an already great looking bike...

FYI: The Lloyds Arrowhead Air Box would look BadA** on the bike also

Don that is a great looking ride. I have been looking at the Elite and I am almost ready to pull the trigger. The big problem is I have 4 Harley's in the Garage with 3 of them being CVO's. I would have to part with one of them. Indian has a few upgrades that will make that bike sing!!!!!

Does Indian offer a "reverse gear" option for their sleds....That would get me to the dealers to take a hard look and a test drive. :nixweiss:

No, they do not.  However, I will say they are easier to dog-paddle....not sure why, maybe due to lower center of gravity?

Congratulations, Don...she's a beauty!
There are a lot of folks out there who will want all your impressions after you get some miles put on her.  Patty and I were really impressed with the Indians we saw at the Rogers, AR dealer this past June.  I for one will really be interested in your opinions of the bike and accessories!  Best of luck!

What type of motor upgrades do they offer?

Stage 1 through 4 upgrades. It has been a while so I really don't remember what parts were involved. My dealer told me if I purchase the parts from them they will do the install for free. At time of purchase.

I'm still interested in a possible Indian versus another H.D.  But I gotta say I was disappointed somewhat after exploring a couple of Indian Motorcycle Forums earlier today.

Damned if there weren't (Speed Wobble complaints)  (Wiring complaints) and lack of support from the parent company on warranty related stuff (Polaris).

Not that I expected "glitch free" performance,  but to see many of the same types of problems/concerns was less than what I was hoping to see. :nixweiss:

Is it possible that HD bought Indian out recently and it's being kept secret for now?

That's exactly right.  That phrase is on a decal that has been planted on the front of my motorcycle helmet for over a dozen years. ;D
