Perfect fit pushrods
« on: December 06, 2017, 04:47:10 AM »

Anyone know how to tell which perfect fit pushrods fits an aftermarket cam? I have the stock set and one .030 over (at least I assume, as it came with the 110-117 kit and se259e cam and that is size listed for the cam in the SE catalog.)

Don't want adjustable if I can use one of these sets. Cam probably be T-man 600 but looking to see how to know. I assume it's measured by the cam lob and some are smaller or larger on the base. Assume higher lift might have a smaller base to allow the lift to fit? Also if using a .030 gasket instead of Harley I assume another .010-020 off??

The manufacturer and/or supplier of the cam in question should be able to answer your question.  It's all about the base circle diameter.  That diameter usually becomes smaller as the lobe lift becomes significantly larger.  If the base circle diameter is .020" smaller than stock, for instance, you would need a .010" longer pushrod to maintain the stock lifter preload.

Best way to do it.  Put engine together.  Install push rod checker or adjustable push rods.  Take off rockers to get correctly adjusted pushrods out.  Measure push rods.

Are you really worried about .010 or .020" in pushrod length?
Run the stock pushrods assuming the heads are not milled and the gaskets are stock. Preload is not a one size is right all others are not.
You must consider the whole stack not just the cam base. Cam base circle is an addition but milling and thinner head gaskets are a minus.
Or just buy some screaming eagle pushrods and be done with it, 18404-08
