Re-flash necessary for slip-ons?
« on: February 08, 2005, 09:38:09 PM »

To all you mechanics out there:
I just bought Wild Pig slip-ons with the 1 3/4" touring baffles for my 2003 SERK. Can I just install them and ride or do I need a reflash for the fuel injection moduleand/ or race tuner kit?
My buddy recently put the slip-ons on his 02 fuel-injected Road King and he has no problems and is running them with the stock fi settings. Leads me to believe that I will be just fine too. Or maybe not? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I would always recommend a high flow air cleaner kit with the free-flowing exhaust as well as a remap of the ECM. Alternately you could get a Power Commander or a Race tuner. It is always best to have the injected bikes dyno tuned for the best results as well. I think if you put these on without the the above the bike will run too lean which will also cause it to run too hot.

Good Luck!

Before and after dyno runs will define "just fine".  It gives you numbers that the seat of your pants and your ear can not.
