Near miss Today
« on: September 02, 2007, 04:49:38 PM »

The wife and I went to lunch today on the scoots to one of our favorite bike themed places. After lunch headed to uptown Charlotte and then it happened, a car driven by a young lady ran the light, hitting the car in the intersection, then flipping up on two wheels....... headed right for me and my better half. We were stopped first at the lite (the car  almost took a lady out in the crosswalk) then it was my turn ,coming towards me the car at an angle on two wheels...  all I could see was the exhaust pipe and the under side of the car  within 1 ONE FOOT of my bars , I leaned the bike over on my right leg and ducked for cover as it went by  MY wife also leaned away then the car struck the car behind us and landed upright, facing in the opposite direction.  NO one hurt. I always say a prayer before riding the bikes . The good Lord has spared me from gun shots to major surgeries and once again today ...... all I can say is thank you LORD.....

If you'd just had a little camera in a shirt pocket to grab quickly I wouldn't have to do this:

Ok, very glad it was but a near miss and now only a good story to tell.  Be safe!

SO glad to hear that it was a "near miss".   :2vrolijk_21:   TCnBham (Terry) and I have survived a couple of near misses.   :)   Just get back on the bike and ride.

Happy and Safe Trails,

Man I've had my share of near misses.  Like you, I pray before every ride.  Then, I do the best I can to ride like I'm invisible.  It is the only way to stay alive amongst the cages.  Glad you're both OK.

Riding a bike may make it appropriate to "pray without ceasing."  I'm glad that you made it through the incident without incident.

You know, Preston, I find myself doing just that every time I enter a traffic flow, which offers complicated challenges..............like I-565 and Research Park Blvd and University Dr.
