Centerline footpegs
« on: May 26, 2008, 09:15:56 AM »

I'm having trouble with both footpegs.  The rubber insert keeps coming out as I bring my boot off and on the pegs.  Anyone else having this problem?  Time for some epoxy...Thanks.

Yes, they are separating  on my front pegs and the heat from my short shot staggered is melting the back peg. I talked to a service guy in Myrtle beach and he said the dealer should cover it. But then again this is H-D. I was thinking about gluing the front ones

I was having that same problem. Found a build-up of dirt under the rubber, cleaned it out and re-seated them. Haven't had the problem since - as long as I give attention to the footpegs when washing the bike.

How'd you re-seal them?  Thanks.

Not sealed, but seated. I just pushed the rubber back into the slot in the metal part of the peg. Gotta watch dragging yer boots down the peg. The lugged soles grab the rubber and pull it out. Then dirt & grime gets into the slot and the rubber won't seat right.

I´ve had that same problem on my 2008 and on both pegs. The boots just pull the rubber off from the chromed peg.
As I'm riding I constantly look down and kick the rubber back in. Not a good design IMHO. My guess is that some epoxi or loctite fast glue will have to be used  :-\
