Swing Arm Conversion, 2000-2001 SERG
« on: November 30, 2008, 11:35:24 AM »

Has anyone done this conversion?  What kind of results did you get, good or bad?  Is it worth the expense?

My indy, is telling me that Sta-bo has a kit to convert to the later model swing arm.  Anyone have any direct knowledge of that kit and results?

Thanks,

john

Didn't they change axle diameter along with the swingarm change?

Not just the axle diameter.  The later swingarms also use a larger diameter cross shaft up front (through the rear of the transmission).  So making the swap completely using all OE parts would be possible, but would require drilling out the rear of the transmission to accept the larger diameter cross shaft.

You will have to change the pulley and belt, won't you?

You think the Sta-bo kit allows the use of the smaller crossshaft?  Not requiring the drilling of the trans.

StaBo kit looks like it would allow use of the smaller cross shaft in the front of the swing arm and going through the transmission.  Still require the larger axle in the rear though.  That just requires a bearing change in the wheel though.  Unless I'm just not thinking of something at the moment the side to side spacing wouldn't be effected so no change in the pulley would be required.
