Leds/bulbs for smoked tail light and tp lights
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:41:12 PM »

I purchased smoked tail light housing and smoked lenses for tp lights and red painted bulbs (bases 3157 and 1157) from Custom Dynamics: The bulbs wer crap: the light of them can hardly be seen in daylight >:(.

So I ask have anybody installed smoked stuff and succeed to purchase bulbs into them that can be seen also in daylight :)?

If so can you tell the types of the bulbs/leds you have installed  and where you have bought them!

Thats why I have mine sitting on a shelf.. The smoked TP lens are just way too dark. I have the http://www.ridetimetechnology.com/tpupgrades.htm bulb upgrade and they're pretty bright. (thats my bike on the left) Had a cager pull up next to me to say they weren't working when I had the smoked lens on, but the sun was behind me and they would look washed out.
Did get HDs LED taillight. Nice and bright. And not tinted near as much.

This is what I used for my front turn signals, behind smoked lenses, and they, "can be seen in the daylight." Great product!  :2vrolijk_21:

Check your local auto parts store.  I put the brake/turn module on my Roadglide with the smoked lenses and found 1157 replacement LEDs with a resistor built in.  No flasher problems and they look great!  Cost $17.00.

Finster - how bright are they compared to regular 1157 bulbs?

They are plainly visible in daylight.  I should have said 1156 for the rear.  I will try to get some pics after work.  Hopefully I can figure out how to post them.

I have the Eclipze™ LEDs form Custom Dynamics with the Harley smoked lens, and they plenty bright. I have been told at night they are too bright.

These have a nice look inside the lens.  I don't know if you can get the brightness from the pics or not, but here they are, hopefully.  I had the right signal on for contrast.

Interesting.  I have been looking at the part store (Auto Zone)for a while now and have not found anything I would not have to buy and install a seperate load equalizer. There are so darn many people out there selling LED's it is almost too hard to decide.  My rule of thumb lately has been you get what you pay for. So I have not been shopping for a deal.  I just want an excellent quality product for a fair price.

Are you saying that you  can just plug these in and they will work?

Do you know if there are amber ones?

Yep!  Plug and play.  At the base I can see a resistor in the lamp.  I was not looking for amber and so can not tell you if they were at the store, they are shown on the website though.  I am running 2057A Silverstars in the front.
