Natchez Trace
« on: February 11, 2006, 09:15:58 AM »

We're planning to make a trip to Mississippi in June for their state HOG rally. The event is being held in Natchez and of course a big part of the draw is an opportunity to ride the famous Natchez Trace. Anybody been there or ever ridden the Trace? 8-)

Ridden the "Trace" a bunch of times.  The road itself is pretty, but not outstanding in any way.  The best part of the ride is the many overlooks and scenic stops to just hang out.  Older I get the better those naps on the riverbank seem to be.....

Road it a few years ago I thought it was great. It is like steping back in time they go to great lengths to keep the outside world from the road. There are no billboards and very little house seen from the road, the over looks and stops are very good. We took two days to ride the hole thing, its not that many miles long but there is a lot to stop and look at. Tupalo is about the half way point, if you plan on seeing elvis's birth home in topalo go in the evening it doesn't open very early and I like to ride early in the morning so we missed it.

If you do go thru Tupelo and are interested, there is a very good muscle car museum.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I had a great time riding it. But watch out for the "four legged bowling ball" "Armadillos". Never seen any of those things on the Dragon looks like they wouldn't pop like a possum if you hit one.
If you see a fuel stop "stop" they are few and far between.
I went by Elvis`s home place but they said he had died.
