Great day for a ride
« on: February 12, 2006, 12:14:41 AM »

Well very sorry to those of you in bad weather right now, but will gladly share my day with you today, its been raining an awful lot here for awhile now, the last few days have been more spring like though, tee-shirt weather and perfect for riding.....today was the first time I rode my scooter hard, nearing the 500 mile break in mark, so took her out to see what we could do. jumped on the freway and just went, cruis'es 80 mph at 3k rpm, but cuts the road like butter, this Bike just wants to go !!! Wound up in Pleasanton, a small little old town that is full of rich people now, and a bunch of little shops where all the finest girls this side of LA gather. Lots of sidewalk cafe's and we found one that was of the Mexican varity. Got the table ride next to the sidewalk, so got a great view of the girls in summer shorts, walkin by,

Man...I am green with envy!  Still snow flurries here. Took the cover
off the melon yesterday and started her up just to hear her. Cover
back on now and she's plugged back in...just wait for the temps in the
50s...maybe forties...I am getting real antsie!

Lol, air.  That's about what it's like here this weekend.

Mike, sounds like a nice ride.  With pipes, today's will only be better!  Have fun!

.......[highlight] I keep scraping metal in a left hand curve...thought it was my foot board, but it was not, I am scraping the kickstand?, do I need more air in my airshock[/highlight].......

[highlight]I found out on the way home into the headwind and pushing 95.......I also need a little taller windshield. Wind beat the crap out of my face[/highlight]........

Cigarmike,
Since you feel sorry for us in bad weather (six inches of snow yesterday) I'm not going to be mad at you. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] At least you were thinking about us as you were riding, smoking a fine cigar, and looking at fine women. [smiley=drink.gif]

On the air shock thing, you may want to check air pressure in them. I'm 6'3" 265lbs, and I'm running about 40 - 45lbs pressure in them. I know for our bikes (SEEG) they had misprinted the maximum air pressure you could run in them (check out this thread), not sure if they have fixed that error in your manual. If that doesn't work then you may want to read some of the threads on Progressive shocks.

For the windshield thing I too had the problem of wind in the face and buffeting effect. I found a eBay seller American-Thunder that has really nice shields and they are inexpensive (I got the 8" dark smoked and it has worked well for my height). Also you may want to check out the Clearview Windshield thread.

Looking forward to riding to Long Beach today to see a Bro and do some Coast riding, I will be posting a CVO post-it on the windshield for you snowbound brothers though. [smiley=oops.gif]
Before we hit the 100 mile mark on the Crimson we added the 9" Smoked (Matches the lower shields) from eglidegoodies. The smoke on the stock shield is "not for street use" above the size it came, so no Harley part looks good. I'm 5'8" and the wind hit my face all too wrong.
ALL your coments are right on the $$$$, these bikes run! I have been telling friends just this week that I have to relearn to ride, I.E. Slow the hell down! 90mph+++ is what the CUSE wants, but here in So. Cal. the law is in abundance, and as a school bus mechanic if I loose my license I loose my job, see ya! The handling, balance, torque, all add up to an awsome bike (Thank you Harley Davidson), just paint it right and we can ride up to cloud 9. Ride saft,  Wrongway

We've got 16" and it's finally tappering off.  The wind is picking up and snow is blowing and piling up all over.  The snow plows were out this morning, but decided to come back later in the day as it was really coming down hard this morning.  The quad has been a blast in the snow.

I know what you mean! Wonder how long I can let it run before the C02 monitors start going off in house?

never been to  Dago have you dude  8-)

America's finest city Temps range from the low 40's to the high 80's year round. Yeah it's hot 50 miles east from the coast in August, but who the hell rides in the desert in August. We do that in the "winter"
Summertime in Dago, we cruise the PCH from Mexico to Malibu  and oh the sights we see  ;)

Laugh all you want, but we will still be RIDING! Just a little more  [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif] [smiley=drink.gif]
along the way.
The face got sunburned on the 250 miles I was able to ride today ;D
We can brag about the weather, but we pay the price for it. The crime is well known, traffic that squeezes you if you try and split lanes(legal here), I no longer speak the proper language, about $300.00 to regester your car every year, taxes on everything you do, can't even stop in the National Forrest without a pass( I always thought this is why I pay taxes). I honestly can't wait to move from this state upon retirement. Wrongway
