Riding in Guatemala
« on: February 18, 2006, 09:04:17 PM »

Been down here fishing for sailfish for the last week. I ran into the owner of the harley shop here at the airport. If everything goes ok, which down here nothing goes as planed, we are riding around Guatemala for a few days. He wants to staart renting bikes so people can experience this country on two wheels. Let you know how things go when I can get back to a computer, which around here are few and far between.

If you have never been to Guatemala and you like to ride or fish for sailfish then guys and gals you are missing out. First day fishing went 27 for 54 on sailfish. Riding was not to be. The Harley dealer   there had ordered 6 new dyna super glides for people to rent. He had to wait for 2 months for Harley to rebuild the transmissions in the bikes before they were shipped to him. Well they were shipped out over a month ago and they are still in the port in Guatemala waiting to go through customs. Any way the dealer felt so bad about this that he let me ride his bike in the city. Have you everheard the saying "you cant get there from here" well that is Guatemala City. Every road seems to be a one way street. Needless to say I got lost so many times that I hired a cab to show me the way back to the dealership. But dont get me wrong I had a blast and would do it again in a heart beat.
If someone could send me a pm on haw to post some pictures I will. Seems like I am doing one step incorrect and the pisc are huge or tiny.

This is the sign for the Guatemala Harley shop. If you blink your eyes you will miss it. This year his shop is twice the size of last year.

This is a road king that the shop here in Guatemala slightly modified for a client. Goes to show that even in a third world country you can get harley parts.
