Surging?
« on: March 13, 2006, 07:18:19 AM »

I rode my bike this weekend and noticed a surging at slower cruising speeds below 2000 rpm.

kobi,

Yes, it is quite common on a stock Harley to have a lean surge at low rpms and light throttle.  Somewhere around 1800-2000 rpm seems to be the leanest.

If you add one of the fuel management devices (DFO, Power Commander, Race Tuner, etc.) you can tune this out quite easily.

Jerry, Thanks for the reply. I would think this would be a WARRANTY issue. I can't see how people are not beefing at the Dealer. I still have 1 year of warranty left.

Dynotuning a Power Commander fixed mine...I don't think Harley has an EPA complliant fix...mine was only down in first gear trying to move at maybe 5mph

My SED had 40 miles on it when I did the upgrades.  With it stock, I thought something was wrong with it because my FXDL had more grunt with the 88in. motor and the new 95in felt like a dog..............until the pipes were put on.
