'06 Road Glide build Cam Choice
« on: December 15, 2010, 10:48:16 AM »

I currently have a '06 Road Glide with 95" kit from Harley, HQ 0034 cams, S.E. air cleaner, adjustable pushrods, D&D Fat Cat, a Direct Link tune, and No Head Work. Needless to say I'm not getting the performance I want. So I've finally got the heads to the shop, getting them ported and polished, bigger valves, 1.9 intake & 1.6 exhaust, new springs for a higher lift cam, compression releases, and milling the heads for higher compression. I want to go with a Cyclerama 575 cam. Do you think it's a good choice? Let a Player know.

You need to talk to your engine builder and head porter  to figure out all the build details and choose the right cam. Head volume, piston volume, compression, whereyou want your power.,  etc all need to be factored in.

Be careful with too much compression, per Wes that 575 should be set to 10.3 to 1 .   Consult your builder / porter so you can get a complete package.

I built a 95" in my '04 RK.  I had SBC (Short Block Charlie) do the heads, nothing radical.  Set the cr to 9:8 so it would run on whatever quality gas was being sold and work with an Andrews 37g with gear drive, Power Commander, Dougherty Power Pac air cleaner, and V&H Ovals.  Never had it on a dyno, but it was a very strong motor from 2500 - 5000 rpm.

As has been stated, let the builder/porter put the pieces together so you have a total package, not a bunch of parts that don't "play" well together.

i have 2006 fatboy that Wes at Cycle Rama tricked out.  I like the 575 cam.  But my engine is a 107 with 10.5 compression.  I would call Wes and ask his opinion.  He's a really nice guy and very helpful on the phone.

What is different about this cam where you can run compression over 10-1 with a 35 deg intake close and be ok? I'm assuming a spot on tune in these instances and without question comp releases. I have one going in a 113 using stock 110 heads with new guides and valve job by Wes, comp set at 9.7 with .030 hg, have seen some good feedback and dyno charts using it in an otherwise stock 110, hoping it works out as intended lol :-[

We have wintessed 110/110 SAE, from the little Wood 6 cam/98"/Our Stage III Heads, tuned at T-Man's.
Not a hard feat to accomplish. :)
