Hells Canyon Idaho
« on: April 05, 2006, 10:58:59 PM »

[smiley=devil.gif]  Anyone toured in this area?  Said to be the deepest gorge in North America (deeper than Grand Canyon!).  I'm researching my next Big Trip and trying to decide where to go.  Thanks!

I have done the trip and it is fantastic [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  At the end my shoulder blades felt like someone had stuck a knife in them because there were so many curves!  You will love it.  There is a good article on the ride in this months edition of Cruiser Magazine.  Have fun.

Gorgeous country and great riding.  Took a trip from Seattle east to the Columbia and then through the canyon to Boise and then back across the northeast border of Oregon and up through central Washington.

I'll see what I can dig up, it was prior to my digital days, about five years ago.

Check out this site.  Pics of a rallye into the canyon.  Way more and better shots than I will have to scan.

It's an eclectic group of bikes, but lots of pics.  http://www.frappr.com/hellscanyonmotorcyclerally/photos

Here's a link to the rallye site too.  May 19-22 out of Baker City, OR http://home.comcast.net/~hcmr/#tour%20package

Then again....maybe I don't need to go to Hells Canyon.  Sure don't want to have a close encounter with a Sasquatch or some peyote smokin' Injun!  But a peyote smokin' Sasquatch....THAT might be OK! [smiley=smoking.gif]

All this talk of the Sasquatch is giving me flashbacks to Steve Austin fighting the sasquatch in that spinning tunnel thing. What the hell was that? Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop, boop(making the sound of his Bionic eye)Now go back and read the boop line you'll be hearing it in your head. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

I finally found the article [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]  After a few hours of pouring through backissues of all the magazines I have, I found the article on Hells Canyon.  Check this out:
Motorcycle Escape Magazine, Spring 2006 edition, Article Name: It Never Rains In Walla Walla  It is a great article.  Hope this helps with your plans.
