CVO Owners around Atlanta.........
« on: May 17, 2006, 04:10:38 PM »

For those of you who live in or around Atlanta, Ga. Andy (AK), Jon (Jonga) and I will be flying into Atlanta from San Francisco on flight #394......arriving Sat. morning, June 10th at 7:00 a.m.

We will be heading to Harley Davidson of Atlanta (501 Thornton Road, Lithia Springs, Ga) where we'll pick up our bikes.

We arrive at 7:00 a.m. but the dealership doesn't open till 9:00a.m. so thought I'd ask where, along the way, is a good place for breakfast.......and would you like to join us?

After breakfast and after we get our bikes, we'll be headed down to Savannah, Ga. and anybody is welcome to join us for whatever part of that ride that you'd like to join us.  We look forward to it! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

You can PM me or respond here and we'll get in touch.

Very  8-)!  Yes, JCZ, I can probably make HOTLANTA!   How many folks flying in with you?  What's going on in Savannah?  I might can do that too!

Atlanta HD is a great dealership!  They've sponsored my all-female and co-ed softball teams in the past!  They are close to airport, but it will take you an hour to get out of the airport so you won't have that much time to kill!

Good place for breakfast???  IHOP or Awful Waffle!  Nah, I'm not sure anymore.  I used to live downtown on Peachtree Street but that was 20 years ago and the best place for breakfast then was Piedmont Hospital!  (Half the businessmen and women in Atlanta used to go have breakfast there!)  I know of many "have to try" restaurants, but not for breakfast!  I'll check and see if the Spotted Dog is open for breakfast.  It's the oldest firehouse in Atlanta that's been renovated into a restaurant.  "The Varsity" drive-in is a landmark, but I don't think they serve breakfast.  I can't imagine chili-cheesesteaks for breakfast!  I'll ask my friends that work/live downtown and see where they suggest.  The ORIGINAL Krispy Kreme is always an option!

Just make sure you buy a "Georgia Peach" Atlanta HD tshirt and stop by The Varsity on your way out or back for a "Frosted Orange!"

That would be great!  We don't know what's going on in Savannah.....Jock was going to show us around so we made that the first stop.  Since then, Jock has learned that he's not going to be available so we're really not locked into anything.

Awhile back (maybe six months or more) several members from this site PM'd me letting us know that they'd be interested in hooking up with us in Atlanta and several voiced interest in joining us for part of the ride......Nidan, Mrs. Red Hot, Laker, Fired00d (up by Va.).......there may have been more....

Anyway, we're looking forward to it!

We dropped our bikes at the dealership yesterday, to be shipped to Atlanta.  That was a weird feeling......my bike has never gone anywhere on a truck or without me.  Kind of felt like I was leaving a child behind. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Well I can't tell you the best place for breakfast in the down town area. Stay away from there as much as possible, too much traffic, durning the weekdays anyway. I'm about a hour away or more, so would be best to meet you along the way somewhere, if we can make it. Our schedules have been real crazy lately. Also I don't know what's going on down in Savannah either. Is it the Ga State Rally?? I got you cell number that you emailed me. If we can make it I'll give you a call.

I can't imagine the feeling of seeing your bike go out on a truck without you. But that is sure a great way to see other places in a timely matter. My husband and I have been talking about doing a coast to coast someday, would need to ship the bikes out to CA and ride them back here. Do you mind telling me what company you are using and what kind of $$$ amount it runs? Do looking forward in trying to hook up with you guys. :) Sandy

A standing invitation to you and your husband (or anybody else from this site) that would like to come out to Calif.  We, the Nor Cal CVO members of this site, will welcome you and do what we can to make it just a little easier for you.  If we're able to break away and ride a ways with you......that's even better.  We could certainly organize a day ride or two, knowing the routes, to get you to places, like Yosemite National Park, the Redwoods, Napa Valley, etc.

We used Keyboard Carriage Motorcycle Shipping (270) 737-5797 and you'd want to talk to Kelly Cecil in motorcycle shipping (they also ship pianos......so they're used to fragile shipments).  The cost, from Harley Davidson of Sacramento to Harley Davidson of Atlanta is $625 per bike, one way.

Now it's looking like rather than Savannah, we may be headed to Charlotte, NC from the Atlanta area, once we get out of there.

Just found this thread...Allow me to state, I deeply regret not being available during this time.  When I first spoke with Andy, it appeared that matters where in hand.  However, the company I work for is under going a large level of change and it is impacting me.

During the time in question, June 8th-13th, I will be out of town on business and have no options.

However, I may be able to ride up/down after the 14th to an area near you...if an invitation is available.

Again, I am so sorry for having changed your plans, however I will fill you in at least during out time together in Cripple Creek.

Yea, thanks a bunch Jock.....for all the stuff that you sent to Andy.  Was impressed with your fancy writing (printing), too.

Thanks to everybody else who has been PMing me and helping us get this route together, too.  We look forward to meeting as many of you as we can.

What's the timeframe and plan once you get to Charlotte?  I happen to know someone from that area that might can give you some tips on things to do or see while there.  You definitely need to go by the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC if you're in that area.  Once you decide which route you're going to take, let me know.  I'm planning on meeting you guys at HD of Atlanta that morning!  You can't miss me, I'll be the one with a smoking, hot Vrod!  Oh wait, all CVO's are smoking hot, aren't they?  JK!  I will do my best to show you around even if I have to draft help to do so!!

Now that Biltmore Estate sounds interesting......might have to check that out.

We've got somebody back there that's putting a route together for us that's going to work as our tour guide along the way, for the first two or three days.

We look forward to meeting you and Mrs. Redhot has let me know that they'll be able to ride with us a little, too.  Lookin forward to meeting Spyglide, also and a few others from this site.  We are anxious.

We can exchange cell phones via a PM and maybe hook up early for breakfast prior to meeting at the dealership (someplace close by the dealership that would be easy enough for us to find).

Yeah,  Biltmore is a must see, and Asheville is also a pretty cool place...kind of bohemian artsy/fartsy areas, cool bars, good eats.  North of there, is Blowing Rock, Boone, Grandfather Mountain, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  There's lots of good rides North of Hot'Lanta which would take you to Asheville/Charlotte depending on how much time you have to work with.

A few of us try to do a ride to Ashville every year. It never gets old, in fact that area is where my favorite rides have been. And yes, Biltmore is a must see. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Hello, I am Jonga's sister. I am excited to meet you all ;D. My goal is to fly in to Atlanta friday evening. If you do not get a volunteer to drive you out to Lithia Springs, I will rent a car friday eve and pick you up and Jon said he would pick me up from car rental place. Mapquest said it was 24 miles ( approx. 30 minutes). Is that correct?
