Myrtle Beach 2006
I know another Myrtle header! I just didn't want to hijack anyone's thread.

Well another Myrtle Beach Spring event is behind us. Overall I enjoyed myself. Not so much for the event as I've never really cared for the event itself. But rather for the area and the riding. Since I'm not a drinker the partying is out for me. I enjoy seeing the vendors and putting a face to a name that I may have dealt with along the lines. Stopping by and saying hello to those I've met over the years and visiting old friends.
I have not been to Myrtle in a few years so I was eager to ride down and get some seat time in. I logged 1725 miles on the Bagger and right around 300 with Budget Build. I must be getting older and more relaxed as I really enjoyed my trip down and back. In the past it was all about getting there as opposed to enjoying the trip. I traveled two different routes cutting out a bunch of interstate. Despite riding home in some rain it was still a nice ride. I traveled a nice two lane road from Myrtle to 81 miles North into North Carolina. I passed through the Cape Fear River basin. While the scenery was outstanding I sure wouldn't want to break down there in the middle of the night. Not with all the "Wolley Bugers" that may be lurking.
My main bitch is and will continue to be how wide spread the vendors are. Bouncing from one stop to the next is OK but it does mean I'm sitting in traffic multiple times as opposed to just once. The flip side is there is not as many people at each stop making it easier to walk around. Each stop would consist of only a couple of quality vendors and a bunch of leather vendors. From what I can tell the big companies seemed to have had a scaled back version of their displays compared to Daytona.
I rode down to Charleston one day just for a trip out of the area. That was a very nice ride. Some stretches of road resembled a trip back in time. Old gas stations and homes along the way. Barns falling in on themselves. It made for nice scenery. Charleston itself was a very nice area (at least the area I was in). It looked fairly new or redone. The roads were in great shape. I hit Low Country HD while I was there. All the HD dealers carry the same stuff. Some just carry more of it. Low Country had a very large building with a wide open layout. The selection of bikes was on par with most dealers. At least one of each model. LC has a huge wall with bikes on it. It looks like my wall that has die cast on it but in full size. I was impressed with the silo that had glass around the top with bikes rotating in it.
I ended my trip early and rode home Saturday morning. Despite the rain initially I had great riding weather all the way back to PA. Again I still don't care for the layout of Myrtle but I would return again just to take in more of the great riding weather and more of the surrounding area.
