Well, I did get 45 mpg while riding the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Not bad at all.  
Left Maggie Valley about 2 pm and rode 600 miles on home.  Had to hole up for almost an hour when we got caught in a severe thunderstorm.  Came draggin' in near midnight, rode hard and put up wet.  It just don't get no better than that!

Somewhere along the Blue Ridge Parkway.  We started that morning on the Skyline Drive about 7:30 am.  Must have seen 25 deer the first couple hours, several wild turkey and a black bear ran across the road in front of us.  No problem - speed limit is 35 mph and we were on the lookout.  Awesome ride all the way down to Boone, NC, where we had to jump off.

Looks like you had a great trip besides the wet and cold part (sounds like my trip to Laconia last year). You were in my neck of the woods wish I would've known. I live about 30-40 minutes east of Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway could have met you and road south some with you.
