geezerglide JIMS 120 Dyno Run
« on: July 19, 2006, 11:53:50 PM »

Everyone,

Just got back from British Columbia, where I enjoyed meeting Roger for lunch.

Also, while their I had my bike tuned and Dynod.

The shop that did the work is JARZ Performance run by Lee Uhrich. He had previously tuned a 95", and an SE 103" for me and did a great job.

They are proficient with the HD SERT and I think it is "Direct Link"

The engine is a JIMS 120 c/w SBC Vortec Heads, S&S 640 G Cams, rest is stock JIMS 120. Previous Dyno Run with Stock HD TB and 2:1 Pro Pipe.

Old Dyno Run:118.3 HP and 126.7 lb ft TQ

Added a Kurayakyn 57 MM TB and Pro Pipe. And we palyed around for 3 - 4 hours to come up with a new MAP. Started from Scratch.

After tuning; 131.64 HP and 134.44 lb ft TQ..

The only fly in the ointment the clutch started slipping a bit in the end.

That looks fun.  Without even gazing at the top end of the chart it's passing 100 ft lbs at around 2300 and just keeps climbing.  That's gonna be fun to ride.  That bike deserves a pat on the saddle for a ride well done.

Kerry,

It sure did not take long getting from Abbotsford to Calgary, we left @ 7:00 am BC Time 6:00 MTN and I pulled into the garage at 7:00 PM Mtn.

And of as you know we could do 90 KPH (apprx. 54 MPH) through most of BC and of course the National Parks, lucked out on the Gendarmes.

Weather was great a little cool in the Passes, however warmed up later in the day.

Also, discussed with Roger about meetin us in Nelson on Aug. 26, he thinks he may be able to.

Leo, looks like the ride was well worth it and it speaks to Lee and his guys abilities.

Congrats on the numbers and thanks for lunch.

Any chance the 19th would work for you in Nelson?  I'm screwed on the 26th date.  Also, Big Al is coming down from Yellow Knife and I am meeting him on 97 between Kelowna and Bend on the 18th and I can continue up to Nelson.

Kerry and I are looking at the dates and they worked for him.

Wow!!! That looks like a fun scooter to ride. If you don't already you need a helmet sticker on the back of your helmet that says "Sit Down, Shut Up, and Hold On". ;D

I can just imagine that front wheel wants to get airborne when you get on the throttle, and the back tire just might want to break loose from a stand still. [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Great numbers! I've heard that the Pro Pipe even with the perf baffle is not the best pipe for bigger motors. Do you think you would have done better with Rineharts or a Boarzilla. Zipper's Thundermax TB and a Boarzilla shows about 125 HP and 127 TQ with no other mods. Anyway enjoy that bad ass ride!

Looks like you got the Braggin' Rights on the HP there geezerglide, but Ol' Maudie has got you on Torque.  Easy enough to see how it performs on the dyno, my question is how does it perform on the asphalt?  'Em Tour-Glides are definitely the most aerodynamic, of all Harleys, so you should be able to run 140-145 MPH, with ease.  Must be the difference in the altitude and atmosphere, in the Pacific Northwest, as opposed to the Southeast.  Haven't seen any Jim's 120's here, produce even close to those kinds of numbers.  What did those Heads flow, and what were your seat pressures?  Please advise.  BTW, magoo, I bet that rear tire has got some "flat spots!" I'm sure Leo can fill you in on the hard facts, but when I was watching the JARZ Performance guys, it didn't start anywhere near those numbers until they did their magic to it, which took most of the day.

Geezer in my 124" I also run a Rivera, but in my case it is the pro clutch.  I have never had any issues with it.

That rings a bell, there!  I think that's what I have, too.  I remember them talking about a lock-out, or some kind of clutch, but Tilley said I didn't need that, since I didn't do any drag racing.  Later--HUBBARD

UnBaLaNcEd/Hubbard,

Thanks again.

With my stock HD Clutch system which is sliiping I have a VPC (Variable Pressure Clutch) VP92T added to it.

It is a form of lock up clutch, as RPM increase it pulls small weights attached to the spring away from the spring allowing for lighter clutch pull and more positive engagment.

I noticed both Barnett and Rivera have a very similar option for their clutch packs.

I am leaning toward the Rivera Pro Clutch, now just have to find one at a good price, after spending a ****load of money getting the bike running the way it should.

Everyone,

Thanks for all of your advise in regards to a Hi Po Clutch Package.

Went with Rivera Pro Clutch, no slippage now, will probably go with the Rivera TPP Variable Pressure Clutch Option.

Well I am off to Sturgis Friday via Great Falls - White Sulphur Springs - Billings over to 212 through to Broadus  - Alzada, will be in Spearfish Saturday Night, staying in a small house just North of the of City Campground.
