How many miles before I SERT,Can I airfilerW/O rep
« on: July 22, 2006, 01:29:43 AM »

on my '06 FLSTFSE2 I have installed the SE2 slip ons (no reprogram on ECM)  can I also install the DOHERTY POWER PACC AIR filter and not reprogram the computer, I want to get a few more miles on the bike, I only have 291 miles total on the bike.  I was going to wait untill 500 miles to have the SERT programed on the DYNO,  or should I wait untill 1,000  miles?

Thanks in advance.  Gabe

Gabe;
Without the AC change you may be ok but I would not wait any longer to put your sert in and at least a base map similiar to the mods you have. Your bike may be running very lean right now and damage could happen to your motor if you ride it much if at all in this configuration. I would wait to dyno it until you get at least 500 miles, preferably 1K.

IMO wait until you have 1000 miles.  Finish the break in, the Dyno process is pretty strenuous.

I agree also on waiting until 1k. Besides everything being good and broke in on the motor this will give you some more time to get some goodies which will save on cost of install (possibly), and having to have the bike re-dyno'd if those mods would require that.

If you put that air cleaner on the bike, you will run a big risk of burning that motor up by it being too lean.   If your going to wait to have the A/C put on I would have at least a test dyno run done so you know your not to lean as many of the bikes from the factory are very lean and some excessive.  (pipes only)

If you put the air cleaner on you should have it dyno'd when you do it and not try and ride it around.   Up to you its your nickel, but if it were mine no way in hell I would do the air cleaner without already having it at the dyno when I did it.
