Exhaust options for the 2007 110" motor ??
« on: July 28, 2006, 08:52:45 PM »

Anyone know how I can get some more sound out of my machine without screwing anything up. The dealer has no suggestions because the bike is an 07 and the exhaust system has obviously changed. I was thinking about some simple slip on's but what will work on my bike with the new system and O2 sensors ?? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

With everything being so new I would give it a few months before changing. Give the aftermarket time to test/configure something that is going to work well with the new motors/02 sensors etc. As much as you may want the "sound" it may be better to wait and see what comes out to prevent from buying something today, and something better comes out tomorrow.

BTW from what I was told these bikes were supposed to sound pretty good with stock exhaust. [smiley=nixweiss.gif] Can you give us some feedback on how you think they sound?

.... I am just an impatient idiot when it comes to mod's. Anyway's, the bike definitely sounds stock when running. There is no way anyone would confuse this exhaust system for an upgrade. It is just too quiet.....This engine needs to breathe without a doubt, it is just to restrictive from the factory. I know a full system, sucker air filter, PCIII or SERT, and a dyno will make this bike fly. It has the potential but needs the ability !!!
I know that feeling. When I purchased my bike I was heading to Sturgis within a month. Only had enough time to put 1k on it, have first service done, then heading out. Not wanting to have any major mods done before taking a major trip I had to go totally stock. Just imagine being at the worlds largest biker rally on a brand new Harley and it sounds like a Honda. :o :'( Didn't get my exhaust/SERT/breather until October I believe, but when I finally did get it, it was worth the wait. Hang in there, put some miles on your bike, turn the tunes up and don't worry about the exhaust sound (at least for this weekend ;D).

You guy's are absolutely right. I just need to enjoy the bike and wait. Plus I would like to get the 1k service done before doing any mod's.

Was talking to one of the guys at the local HD dealer today while waiting on my new V...NO, Nada, Neet downloads for the new 07's yet...the dealers are at a loss...they don't know what's going on either...he said that they are not supposed to do any mods AT ALL, but if customer wants, then they will put aftermarket pipes and ECM controllers on, then dyno, but could be warranty issues...they just don't know.  In 2010, according to him, even Alabama will have to do EPA tests to get Fed funding, so anything from 07 on...I would suggest, given current info, to keep your stock parts for inspection purposes...06 an earlier are fine, no problemo...

Ok, so if the dealers or the MOCO will not offer any downloads or support for ecm modifications on the 2007's can't you just use an aftermarket ecm controller like the PCIII or a custom module from Zippers ?

Also, I need some clarification. If you use a PCIII or SERT do you ALSO need a download into the ECM from the MOCO ?

copout,

No - no download is needed.  The PCIII modifies the output of whatever map is in the ECM.  If you use a "canned" map, you just have to make sure it matches not only your mods but also the level of the ECM in your bike (Stock, Stage 1, etc.).  If you have a custom map made on a dyno, then the level of the ECM makes no difference.

Thanks Jerry.. You have been nothing but helpful. My intention is to have this bike dynoed for a custom map when/if the 07 products are released.

Give Bub a call, I hear they've got a set of true duals for the 07 with the O2 sensor holes and correct mountings they are releasing now.

Zippers is working on the new ECM as we speak. I was down there last week and saw the prototype. There are some mounting issues and a few other slight problems. It will be ready next month sometime. One thing I did not ask was there going to be new 07 base maps available. I would think so since they have already put their hands on a set of 110 heads. Be patient and let the aftermarket catch up. All of your big aftermarket companies have the wheels spinningas we sit here and ponder what is next.

BTW Copout congrats on the new ultra. Have any pics yet?????
