Smoother style of the bags, tour pack, and batwing all seem to flow nicely.  I love that they made so many upgrades from latches to a home run on the infotainment screen.  Passenger comfort, linked braking, bluetooth, USB, better front forks (long time waiting), lighting, etc. etc.  So many upgrades in one year!

Great Job Moco!

I like the look however am reserved on the Fairing and saddle bag changes until I see one in person.
Not quite sure on the letter box in the fairing, however with a chrome grill it may look a lot better. (More accessories  :2vrolijk_21:)
Same goes for the lower vents.
Other than that pat on the back for the MOCO.
It will be interesting to see how the cooling system pans out for the first year.

The new 14s should be hitting dealer showroom floors pretty soon I would think.  :nixweiss:

15 new 2014s unloaded this morning at HD of Charlotte.
No CVO's, but the Ultra Limited is very nice.
Saddlebags have a lever to open them.
Fairing vent has a cool operation to open and close them.
Water cooled heads with fans and tank.
Single latch to open tour pack.
FINAlLY put decent hinges on tour pack.
Hand controls are very different.
Bunch of changes.

I for one think the MoCo started listening to the rider's.   :2vrolijk_21:  Reading about the changes sounds GREAT.., can't wait to see them in person!  What I don't see is any "jaw dropping" colors that I have seen in the past.   :-\

This is the area, I was a little disappointed about.  I like the scheme of the paint, though a little conservative, but the colors could have been more creative.  The last couple of editions of the CVO Ultra they have improved the paint on the tour pack, incorporating the full design. :)

SBB, I agree, I feel very good about the appearance and function of the hinges if as advertised.

Looking at the HD video the saddlebags do not look as "rounded" as in some of the early pics.  What's your take since you've seen em?

Got a pic of the inner fairing?

I don't believe the heads are "water-cooled". They are liquid-cooled. I'm curious what the liquid is. Has anyone read any reports on the coolant? Is it oil? How are they pumping the "liquid" to the lower fairing radiators? Its hard to find any technical information on the new "Liquid-cooled Twin-Cam" engines. Its being offered in both the 103 and the 110.

It looks like they are charging about $1100 for the liquid-cooled upgrade on the 103 engine when you compare the costs of the Standard Ultra and the Limited Ultra.

Standard coolant, not oil.

It looks like they are ducting the heat from the lower fairing radiators under the bike and out through large ports on the back of the bike on each side between the fender and the new saddlebags.

I saw that and wondered about it too.  I need some "hands-on" time, or better pics.

Maybe the newly designed steering head with stiffer front forks is in response to the numerous complaints about the infamous "death wobble"?   :nixweiss:

I was at my dealer today and saw a 2014 Street Glide Special... It was in the Whiskey Orange colour and those like orange will love it!

Hate the vent in the fairing.
Love the new bags and how they open and close with one hand.
Do not like the inner fairing setup at all... Kind of reminded me of the Godzilla fairings.

With more negatives than positives and no CVO colours that excite me I still love my '08 Duracell.

Better luck next year Mother Harley.

Probably!  I'm sure they read what is said on the forums, at least people the employees of Moco and it filters back.  Sounds like a nice improvement.  I'll be installing some fork cartridges in mine soon. :)

After looking at these more closely I believe they are LED Turn signals on the Limited Ultra.

Thanks for pic.  Still not liking it too much.  Not sure I like having a display in that area to distract me anyway.  As I get older, it takes me longer to shift my focus.  I assume most of the radio functions can still be done by handlebar switches.

Agree on the vent and the inner fairing.  Do the bags look like what we are use to or have they changed (rounded) significantly?

Yes the bags are quite different.  More rounded (dare I say Yamaha like) but appear to be bigger... Wider, but then they have to be to avoid hitting the darn latch catches on the inside when putting your items in.  They must have rounded them to blend with the new rounded TourPac.

Even with what some would call faults, the bags are easier to open and close with one hand.

I have run over 120 MPH on the Honey Badger with NO problems. How much more, I don't know... since the speedo tops out at 120... but I run Traxxion Dynamics AK-20 cartridge forks.

Don't think I would try that with the stock '50s-tech damper rod forks. Hopefully the new 2014 steering head is better...

Harley Davidson does utilize feedback from a "Customer Advisory Panel" which then send out online surveys to on a regular basis asking all sorts of probing questions pertaining to their products. the parts they use and motorcycling in general. One recent survey was heavily weighted towards suspension and tire questions so if things hold true to form the feedback that was presented by their panelist may have some impact on what we see from them down the road. Believe it or not they do understand today's economy and care about their customer base as they prepare for the future.

I guess it is nice to have all of the functions (radio, nav, etc.) in a single touch screen system.  What I did like about the "old" tacked-on Garmin nav unit was that you could remove it and use it in "walking" mode.  Made it much more useful.  I'd be willing to bet the touch screen doesn't detach.... ;)

I guess it is nice to have all of the functions (radio, nav, etc.) in a single touch screen system.  What I did like about the "old" tacked-on Garmin nav unit was that you could remove it and use it in "walking" mode.  Made it much more useful.  I'd be willing to bet the touch screen doesn't detach.... ;)

Very good point!  I guess that's the trade off, but I think it would be great if it came out and you could put a face plate to fill the void & protect the contacts.  I do like being able to remove my Garmin and use it in another vehicle.  Oh, well you can't have it all! ;D

The unit in the BMW's is built in like a screen and then can also be ejected to be carried with you. It can be done but I don't know if that's how the new HD unit functions.

You know, I was wondering about the K1600, having read so much about it and then simply dismissed the idea.  Good to know!  I'm going to go back and review how it works.  Thanks! :bananarock:

Harley Davidson does utilize feedback from a "Customer Advisory Panel" which then send out online surveys to on a regular basis asking all sorts of probing questions pertaining to their products. the parts they use and motorcycling in general. One recent survey was heavily weighted towards suspension and tire questions so if things hold true to form the feedback that was presented by their panelist may have some impact on what we see from them down the road. Believe it or not they do understand today's economy and care about their customer base as they prepare for the future.

I wonder if you will be able to add pre programed routes into the GPS.  I tend to when going to Sturgis or other places have day trip routes programed into my GPS long before I get there.  Then I can sight see and not have to be constantly looking for street signs.  I usually plan out several days worth of rides like that.

I usually do not need a GPS to get some where, but for scenic loops once at my destination.

Another yes vote for some of the changes. Does anyone know if the amp is still under the tour pack on the SE Ultra? I can't see if it is or not with the pics I've seen so far.

I think there's a lot to like about this bike so many upgrades (less the price increase), from performance, safety features, cooling, & infotainment.

By the way, I just got off the phone with Matt at Oakland Harley Davidson and he states the bikes were supposed to have arrived this morning but did not show up yet.  He checked the Harley in house computer schematics and stated it appears the amp is still located under the tour pack as in previous years.

Thanks Kingspoke. It would be a consideration in a decision to get a '14 as I would like to have a detachable tour pack now. I know it can be done to my '12, but haven't really got into doing it.

If the bikes are there tomorrow, I'll try to get you some pics with my cell phone, not great but should suffice for now!

Not ports at all. They are the LED blinker/brake lights. They should have left them alone IMO. The smooth looking LED they have had these past years looked a lot better.

Not at all. The radiator heat goes out of vents on the top part of the black backsides of the lowers. Right around the rider's legs, unfortunately...  :confused5:

When you enlarged the photo it looks like you can see a wire behind a black plastic grill. At least they do have lower turn signals.
I looked at a Ultra yesterday, it's just the bag mount there was no lights in the opening. Turn signals must be in the tour pak lights.

Keeping in mind what I saw yesterday wasn't a CVO, I'm STILL happy with my 13.  :)

06ultrase - I'm headed over to Smokin' today to see theirs.  They got like 18 bikes in Wednesday.  I need to see them in person.  However, I'm definitely NOT trading my '12 in until 100K miles.  I have almost 13,000 and it hasn't been a year yet.  I have it as a personal goal and the bike is just right for me to achieve it.  I figure 7 - 8 years.  By that time MoCo will have fixed the issues that will come to light, scrapped some of the "neat" features that I feel are really trying to get riders to switch to H-D's from metric, or come out with another new line.  My money is in my wallet until 2020.

I had a good laugh yesterday, when I called around to see which dealer had a CVO Limited on the floor.  A salesman at one of the dealers said he only had one coming, in Oct., and I would need to give him 5K deposit now if I wanted him to hold it for me! :D

I really love my 2012 CVO and plan to keep it a long time.  It runs great and handles very well, with the exception of the spongy front end, which I plan to upgrade soon.  On the other hand if I wasn't so satisfied with my current bike I would jump on a CVO Limited because it has so many upgrades.  Not crazy about the vented fairing but you can chrome it, go carbon fiber, or paint it to blend in.

Harley Davidson needed to do something about their business model, I read an article a couple years ago about how Harley Davidson makes more money on Tee shirts and coffee mugs than on selling motorcycles, I thought back then, they need to change their bikes if they want to be more competitive.
Most Harley riders are of the older generation, most of the younger riders choose a different brand, there could be the argument of Harley's are more expensive, but younger buyers will look at Harley Davidson hasn't changed their models or their technical aspect to building their product, others have!
IMHO, I believe Harley Davidson, is looking for future buyers and technology that attract the younger consumer.
I also think, more changes are on the way in the future with Harley Davidson.
This is a radical change for Harley Davidson, just look at all the post in here to prove they have interest in their new product.
Anyone notice these radical changes came after a certain member of the family retired?
Just sayin!!!!!

I agree on changes and tech needing to be added, but I disagree with it due to trying to get younger riders to buy H-D bikes.  Young riders probably do not have the money or credit to purchase H-D bikes.  Victory and now Indian brand bikes are filling the price gap.  I do think as with the auto industry that when a good idea takes hold, other car companies try to integrate it into their own line. In MoCo's case they have changed controls and infotainment.  However, they are and will have problems with the wet heads.

The wet heads only come on when temp calls for it. Delta T is 20 to 30 degrees.  Unless I am stuck in traffic, that feature is useless.  They cannot fully integrate water cooling because we will lose the Harley look and sound.

So for me it comes down to this: if I want a bike and I am on anything but a H-d how will it feel pulling up to a stop light next to Harley's?  Vice versa,  when on my CVO and I pull up to a bunch of metric bikes...priceless.

I don't believe the retirement of Willy G had anything to do with this huge list of updates and improvements,
it's more likely the company has finally realized that they have to compete with Polaris or lose out on sales.
Victory and more importantly the new Indian will make a difference.
Customers will vote with their feet when they see what those brands are offering for less money than we pay.

It's good to see the leadership in Moco stepping it up technology wise which will lead to better reliability.  Personally, in 35 years of owning Harley's I've never had any major problems and never had a break down.  Despite my personal experiences, "consumer's reports" supports your sentiments regarding reliability.

The bikes have been getting better every year, beginning with the new frames in 2009, and this year was a giant leap in saftey, performance, & convenience.  As long as Moco does not cheapen up on the bikes as I have seen in recent years (including crucial parts as bearing, etc.), Moco will maintain it's dominance in the cruiser market.

Moco gets an 'A' from me this year on the 2014 CVO Limited, for all the great improvements and still keeping that Harley appeal!

Good point Dlaws01! :2vrolijk_

Not the CVO but good illustration here:

My bad, on reporting the amp under the tour pack, it's in the fairing under the infotainment center.  Just arrived at Eaglesnest HD & confirmed with the sales mgr.

I just wished that their motorcycles were as reliable as a coffee mug.   :-\

I have several H-D logo coffee mugs, and NONE of them have EVER leaked ONE DROP of coffee!

Full disclosure: I have spilled a bit... now and then... especially when there is Kahlua or Tia Maria or Baileys in it...

There is supposed to be an "engine temp" report as part of the data display.

Hey, Kingspoke, you're saying you can confirm that the amp is not under the tour pack! Now that would make the tour pack much easier to be detachable. I know from the limited pics I saw, I couldn't see the amp mounted under the tour pack. But wasn't sure with the angles I saw. That makes a '14 much more interesting along with some of the other changes.
My bad, on reporting the amp under the tour pack, it's in the fairing under the infotainment center.  Just arrived at Eaglesnest HD & confirmed with the sales mgr.

Excuse the poor Skyrocket II photos, but it's good enough for govt work! :D
Pic of the instrument cluster with map button depressed.  Cluster is very nicely arranged very clear at a glance, and well thought out.

Yeah, I got a bum steer from OHD, but he could not see where the bracket was connect on the schematic.  I spoke with Tom at Eaglesnest and he absolutely confirmed the amp is in the fairing.  Moco has been listening to what you guys have been doing in your mods.
You'll notice on this Ultra Limited (non CVO) it now has the CVO driving light & turn signal bar! :2vrolijk_21:

The lowers with the cooling unit do a great job funneling the air to the engine and actually do not inhibit air to the engine.  May be another story as far as trying to remove them in the summer.  I never do and this bike should run much cooler.  We'll find out soon!

Looking at a limited yesterday, the 1st 2 thoughts are:
1) the faring vent is either open or closed, no adjustment  :nixweiss:
2) why not make the left side of the radio a glove box too  :nixweiss:

The tourpak is nearly 2000 CuIn bigger, yet it looks smaller, until you look at the bikes side by side and see the big difference in width.

I've been wondering about that new larger Tour Pak. I haven't seen one yet, but if it's 27" wide, it would seem to be as wide as the bags. And it's several inches bigger in all dimensions. Its gotta be HUGE... but guess you can't have too much storage space!

I love all of the changes and UPGRADES to the 2014 model. The MoCo is getting on board with today’s technology but cleverly maintaining that traditional Harley-Davidson character.

I feel with the emergence of the new Indian Motorcycle Company and the Victory brand, it’s a win-win for the American motorcycle consumer. Competition will hopefully yield a better product and price point.  :2vrolijk_21:

 Just my 2 cents.

That dash looks pretty nice.  Vents in lowers look like they will allow decent air flow.

Cant wait to see how they do it on the road glide

What is so cool about the tour pack is that it actually looks smaller because it is subtly smoother in style.  I think you will like it, Ken! :2vrolijk_21:  Just don't tell the Honey Badger! >:(

I've been thinkin that the Road Glide & the Street Glide will be killer bikes.  I envision the Road Glide with a very upscale aerodynamic fairing with "ZX14 style" day maker lights.  I thought the S.G. would be out in CVO attire this year, but another year is even better to make it that much more!  I think the new management is listening! :2vrolijk_21:

New TP would be a nice upgrade some day. I would have to get it painted to match... maybe Extreme Dimension could do it. Prolly room for a good subwoofer in there now, too!

I'd like to get the new saddlebag lids, too, but no way I'm losing my saddlebag speakers... maybe upgrade them to 6x9 HATs along the way when new speaker-capable lids come out. I wonder if the MoCo will offer saddlebag lid retrofits? Prolly not...

And a Slicer front fender! And an Agitator A/C to match my wheels! And...

NOW SEE WHAT YOU'VE GONE AND DONE? You may have kicked off a whole new round of Honey Badger mods! Oh well, you're never really done with a Harley anyway... and it's only a matter of money...

Actually the Honey Badger is "Bad Ass", as is, so don't make any changes unless you really get bored! :D

Thanks, man. I like it just the way it is. Prolly the next round of mods should be a T-Man bottom end, so it doesn't explode any time soon! Maybe some head work and a CR bump, too...

What's your impressions thus far and how many miles have you put on the CVO Limited?  Did the dealer ask for an arm and a leg, for it?

Paid msrp. Another local dealer had a red one and offered a &1000.00 discount. Just liked the silver better.

Lovin mine too.  Only 70 miles on her yesterday.  Ride is Super, new seat is awesome, sound system is awesome, put my ipod in the slot w/140 gigs of tunes and indexed the whole thing.  Only a couple of bummer's so far.  !. No friggin cigarette lighter and the power port would not hold the lighter from old bike in tight, SUX!  @. the CB on has 6 channels available and channel 22 is not one of them, for fifteen years our group has used 22 on trips.  Got Sirius subscription trial but they said the radio is not equipped for the "specialty " package (weather, traffic, etc.) Tech dept at Sirrius is working that out (I hope).  Got a nice long but HOT weekend to run her thru the paces, but right now 9!/2 stars outta 10!

Seems like the "new" CVOs might be a little easier to come by this year....with all the 'new' tech out for '14.

Interesting about the prices, as usually the dealers have some absurd 5K over pricing.  Good to know about the details such as no cigarette lighter, CB channels, & XM.  Thanks!   It will be good go get a comparison of how much cooler these bikes run stock & modified vs the pre-14's.

Also, how is the fit and finish on these bikes vs pre-14's? I haven't seen one in person as of yet!
Thanks guys!

OK, so yesterday I rode down to Iron Steed H.D. (Vacaville, Ca.) after talking to the salesman "Jason" on the phone.  He has a very beautiful red (Burgundy Blaze) CVO limited in the service area, fresh out of the crate, back rest off the tour pack and tour pack mounted on the temporary shipping (green plastic) frame.

Interesting improvement on the saddlebag is that they have a chrome decorative piece over the DZUS fasteners, where they can't be pried by a screw driver.  Secondly while inspecting the interior latch mechanism, it is obviously very stout.  Some thief would have to destroy the bags to remove them, rendering the object of the theft, valueless (absent valuables in the bag).

Some of you may remember I had my bags stolen off my FLHTCUSE7, (including IPOD) and I can't tell you what a nightmare that was in time and costs.  The CVO bags are 3K with all the wires, liners, etc.  Not to mention IPOD and personal belongings and the wait of 8-10 weeks for replacements.  I have insurance and a deductible ($250) but the dealership let me slide on the deductible because they had to send one bag back for repaint.

Looking at my tour pack compared to the new tour pack, you can see the CVO Limited has a sleeker appearance and nicer (tapered) smoked light bar (same old rack, unfortunately, which should have been updated as well).  P.S. my cell phone died so no pics but "Jason" said he would send me a pic when the bike is completely assembled, which will be sold at MSRP according to Jason.

I have my bike set up right, & running great or I would be all over the red one! :drink:
