Black spot on heat shield
« on: September 22, 2014, 04:53:04 PM »

Almost had a cow.  Had just finished cleaning all of the love bugs off after yesterdays ride.  Got down to the heat shields and right where the two goes into one there was a huge black spot.  Thought maybe it was rubber that melted off of the heel of my shoe.  After trying every solvent I could find to no avail it started looking like maybe I had somehow scraped the chrome off in that spot (don't know if that is possible).  I ended up with a razor blade and started at a very small spot scraping lightly almost perpendicular to the pipe.  Gladly it all came off (whatever it was) and I can't see any scratches anywhere on the chrome.  Only had her for 3 weeks so I was so PO'd..  All better now.   :2vrolijk_21:
