Mikey, what are you doing with 12 Turkeys? Just wondering----

A group of drinking buddies, that meet weekly and solve as many of the worlds problems as we can, annually have a turkey frying party on Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. We cook turkeys for our friends that want their turkey fried but it is too expensive to fry just one. The cost of peanut oil is ridiculous so we can cook a few ans split the cost of oil. They bring their turkeys and chip in on the oil. they also bring a covered dish and their choice of drinks and we cook and party. We have been doing this for 15 years or more.
Then I cook 2 for Thursday's feast and 4 for my children and grandchildren to take home.
The rest we will have in Maggie Valley 2015.

I'll do a few turkey breast on the Big Green Egg.. I inject them and put on a rub. After letting them sit overnight I throw them on the Big Green Egg for about 4 hours at about 250*.. they come out very tender & moist

About 1968, we obtained a garlic spice Turkey BBQ sauce from an Oklahoma family which had handed it down for several generations.  So,  I do a 22 pound Tom on a spit over a slow charcoal fire.  Keep the box at about 250*F.  2.25 hours cook time, basting every 15 minutes or so.  Yum!    :huepfenjump3:

I love fried turkey like everybody else, but I didn't like all that grease mess. Check out the Big Easy by Char Broil it's the best $79.00 you will ever spend. Just put the bird in for 2.5 hours and drizzle it with oil every 30 minutes and you've got the best fried turkey without all the mess!!
