That's a long wait.  I ordered a King CVO Anniversary tour pack 3 weeks ago and picked it up yesterday.  I wonder if there a problem getting the paint for your bike.

Hello All, I just purchased my 2013 in Roman Gold/Emerald yesterday.  Here is a question one or some of you may already have done the research on:  I kept my chopped tour pak from my last "non CVO Road Glide" in hopes of having it color matched.  I called Gunslinger and they are restricted from doing color matching on components that Harley sells.  So, since Harley sells the chopped tour pak in CVO Color Schemes, Gunslinger won't paint mine.  Any of you have any ideas where I can get my tour pak color matched or is my only option ordering a new one and perhaps selling the one I have now?  Thanks for the help.

They have an ad in the Thunder Press...the site says call if color not listed.....they show a '13 CVO RG in the ad.

Got a new guy locally now so no more LA for me. Will let you know how he is when I get my new fender back. Just got done having my Pickard triple trees painted.

The comment on Gunslinger not being allowed to paint CVO colors on parts that are available from isn't entirely true.  He can do collision repair and custom work.  Best thing to do is call and ask.  I'm having my king TP painted to Candy Cobalt but I'm keeping the graphics out of it because I refuse to pay 1200+ for a 100% matching TP besides I think a solid color will go with the flow of the graphics anyhow.  I'll get a razor or chopped from HD with graphics when funds allow.

Yes, Gunslinger is allowed to do collision work but i'm here to say, and this is right from the goat's mouth, they will not paint CVO colors on any part you can order from Harley in a CVO paint scheme.  I even asked if they would at least paint my 4-point docking hardware in Roman Gold and they said "no, they are restricted from doing that."

Not sure who you talked to, but "from the goats mouth" they can/will paint CVO colors, but they are not permitted to paint the entire CVO paint schemes (unless collision work) that they were contracted to do on the production bikes.  I also just shipped my King TP to them yesterday for a fresh coat of solid Candy Cobalt (minus twilight blue and smoked graphics).

Why they wouldn't paint your docking hardware is beyond me, because HD doesn't offer that part in Roman Gold so they should be allowed to do so.  FWIW, find a good powder guy and he can match the paint with powder, that's what I did with my docking hardware.

I called twice and spoke to two different people.  One about the tour pak and the other about the docking hardware.  If you can provide a specific name for me at Gunslinger, please, please do so.  I need to talk to that person that will authorize some painting for me.  Thanks in advance.

I have spoke with Shauna  several times since December trying to get my vented lowers and speaker surrounds painted in the '09 Charcoal Slate for the '09 SERG.
She has been consistant with me, explaining that if Harley offers it, then you have to go through Harley (ie. Harley offers the non-vented lowers in the P&A catalogue, so if I wanted non-vented lowers, I would have to go through Harley) The MoCo's licensing agreement is very clear and very restrictive, especially when it comes to CVO paints.
Gunslinger has a lengthly back log when it comes to "customer paint" as Harley has expanded their contracts and Gunslinger has also expanded their facility recently.
The last time I spoke with Shauna (last week) I asked her if they could paint a set of the heat shields that attach on the frame rails in front of the side covers and Shauana said they would paint them for me.
I think the only reason that they agreed to paint the heat shields and speaker surrounds is that they are already mixing paint for the vented lowers. In fact, they are trying to bump me up on the list to paint my '09 Charcoal Slate stuff at the same time as another customer that is ahead of me on the waiting list...
They probably don't want to just paint your docking station by itself...

One would think with all the beautiful work on the extended after market bags, rear fender, front fender, front wheel and so on you would have at least put the premium hinges on that beautifully painted tour pack. :P

I installed the upgraded TP hinges on my Road Glide Ultra.  The required drilling is minimal - just grind off the edges of the rivets on the inside of the TP, then widen the existing holes with the specified size bit.  It took me about 20 minutes being very careful.  The hinges are only $50.

I drilled out my hd painted CVO pal on both sides for hinges and latches. Put down some masking tape and you'll be good.

Honestly I cant believe HD still even uses those hinges.  Considering all the work you have done, the hinges would be simple for you.

You bike is truly fantastic looking.

Finally! Pics of what my atomic orange TPK will look like! Thanks. I ordered mine on April 16th. Prolly a long while yet to get sent up to Canada.

Anyone have pics of what painted lowers look like? I asked the dealer and they said you can't get lowers with any orange on them at all. Is this correct? He offered to sell me a fully grey pair of lowers though. Can't see that looking to nice on my bike though. Does anyone have 2 cents to put in on this?

Order them in primer from a US discount dealer and have them sent directly to a painter. Joe from Xtreme has been doing a great job matching the orange.

Just ordered a chopped white gold pearl solid color pak and the dealers order site showed 20 days to fill the order. I would think that standard production painted parts are a short lead time but custom pieces are a crap shoot.

I am interested now in seeing how long it will take to arrive.

I put a Tank emblem like the ones that come on the Skunk on the back of my Chopped Tour Pack, get lots of complements on it.  It is curved on the back side so had to add a little more double sided tape.  Held it in place real tight with wood working clamps.

I like that tank emblem on the tour pac, going to steal that idea if mine EVER gets here. Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome

Either the tank badge or the fairing skull might be a possible choice. Definitely something to think about.... Thanks!

Thought about the fairing one, but thought it might be to small.

Funny never had or liked skulls.  Almost did not buy the bike because of the skulls.  Now I have added skulls to this bike, the primary and the timer.  Even did the same primary on my 13 CVO King  except there is no chrome on the one for the king

So am I missing something? I went to put together the chopped HD tour pack and the supplied bolts are too short, by about a 1/2 inch.  Is their a trick to it or is this another quality control issue with HD?

The kit came with two different length 1/4" bolted that were all too short for the four point rack and there were three 5/16 bolts that were the right length so I found a fourth and some good lock nuts and used them. I had to drill out the four existing holes in the metal plate to fit the larger bolts and of course drill through the bottom of the tour pak but once that was done everything bolted together nicely.  Just came back from a 800 mile trip and the pak was still there so all must be good.

To answer your questions, yes you are and there isn't a way to make it work with what came with it.
