New in SC area
« on: January 07, 2007, 09:32:36 AM »

Got my First SE Ultra model in between Christmas and New Years.  This is my 3rd HD and looking forward to many miles on this bike.  Looking to do a Stage I once the 500 miles are on the bike. Any advice on how to keep it out of the dealership and on the road would be great.  I read alot about the 110 engine in the Ultras here on this site, are having problems.  Sure doesn't give that warm and fuzzy feeling for the trips I have planned over the next year.
Thanks,
TimBone

Tim,
Congrats on the arrival of your new scooter. Welcome to the site, we are glad to have you join us. You will find a great bunch of members here that will be more then willing to answer questions, offer advice, and assistance. We also have been known to help members spend money on their bikes also. ;D

Sounds like you've already started doing your homework and know of some of the problems that are being experienced by the 110's. Keep reading what the other owners are doing, and what you need to look out for so you can have many fun and safe miles on your new bike.

TimBone,

Welcome to the site.

You've got a great bike there, but then again I'm biased because I've got the same one, color and everything.

My advice is, do the stage one now and richen up the bike ASAP. They do run hot, and getting some extra fuel to the motor will help a lot.

I left here yesterday for my first real ride on the bike. It had only 32 miles on it. I got home with 313 miles on it. I really like it and think the MoCo really made some great improvements since my 99 FLHTC was born.

Man, this thing really wants to run, and that 6th gear Woo Hoo. Man, is that sweet!!!

Enjoy your bike and hide your wallet, because this place will get you spending your loot real fast.

Timbone, Welcome to the site and good looking steed. No problems with my 110. Runs great and a real improvement over the 04 seeg. Best advice to give you is get the restrictive mufflers off asap. I did mines within 200 miles and never a heat issue or any other issue like some here are having. Goodluck [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Tim, welcome to the site.  You'll learn everything that you ever wanted to know about CVO's or your model in particular.  That happens to be my favorite color of the 07's......got to see them up close at Sturgis this past Aug.

I also took the liberty of re-sizing your photos so that it can be easily seen.  The ideal size for viewing is 800x600 (or vica versa, if it's an up and down pick).  Congratulations on the new ride.

Welcome TB. Spend a couple of hours going back thru the topics form the last 4 months. You should get a real good idea of what's going on and what's best to do to the '07s. Good luck with the new scoot! ;) Hoist!  8-)

Welcome aboard!!
I think it is a little early to be calling the 110 troublesome....
There is a few things that need to be "optimized" by us.
As suggeseted earlier, get the intake and exhaust to breathe better, richen up the mixture and if you still need more power, there is lots of people working on the perfect cam/head combo!!

Brad,

I'm glad the automotive folks don't think that way - can you imagine having to re-tune your new 4 wheeled vehicle to keep it from melting down?  I somehow think that manufacturer would be out of business rather quickly.

BTW - I don't think you can blame the EPA regs for these TC110 engine issues.  The regs for '07 are the same as those for '06.  Put the blame squarely where it belongs, the MoCo.

You guys are Great, I am in the Low Country as well, my wife and I are Marines in Beaufort and love it here.  We are due to move up to North Carolina during the summer as it is our time for rotation.  This site has great information, but more importantly I am finding out that the people in particular make this a great site for info and just good ole talking!  If any of you are in my area or will be passing through, PLEASE drop me a line and I will be there to ride you through or steer you in a direction if you need a place to hang your hat!
My wife has recently got here bike license a year ago while I was in Afghanistan and she got herself a Buell.  I surprised her with a Street Bob when I got back and she got on it for the first time last weekend and there is no looking back for her now!!!  I am thinking the CVO Dyna is in her future if she continues to like the Street Bob.
Thanks for down sizing my photo, I will take a few more and get them on.

Tim,
Semper Fi!!! (USMC '75 - '78) Last time I was in the vicinity of Beaufort SC I was doing "bends-n-thrusts". ;D I still have nightmares about sand fleas and that is from many years ago (PI Jun - Sept '75). You mention you're going to be moving to NC soon, would that be Lejuene? I also spent some time there and have a friend that lives in Wilmington that I visit yearly. Maybe we can hook up when I get down there this spring.

Fired00d,
Semper Fi back at you!
You crack me up, these Sand Fleas suck!!! LOL.  That is the only part of BFT that is a downfall, yet the retirees are coming here in flocks!!!  I was doing the Bends and thrusts for the first time in '89 and the memories come fluttering back each time I ride through PI.  Luckily I am on the Air Station for my job and love to swing with the wing!  We are headed back to Lejeune and heck yes we gotta hook up when you head to Wilmington.  As you know, great riding in that area too and not far from the MBBW spring and fall Rallies.
You take care and have fun,
S/F,

Scott,
What mods have you done to your Scoot?

Let's see - Rinehart True Duals, ThunderMax with Auto Tune, Ness Big Sucker A/C, Brembo brakes and rotors front and rear, LED rear light strip (running and brake light), Garmin Zumo with XM, tons of MoCo chrome, Clearview recurve windshield, Legend Air suspension system, and more MoCo chrome, so far anyway... [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Pretty soon maybe it will be warm enough up north here so I can ride it, in the meantime, it is pretty cool to work on it...

Nice,
I am gonna go with the Rinehart 2-1 and was looking at the Thunder Max as well with the Auto Tune.  Do you recommend it and do they have good base maps for our bike and does the Auto tune do what it is advertised to do?
How many miles do you have on your bike and what oil are you running?
Thanks for your help in dialing my ride in!

Tim, I live @ the foot of the new bridge in River Club. I can hear the rifle range on PI going hot every morning. I've also have a boat at the Downdown Marina so you may see me there. I've been here about 12 years and also LOVE it!!! You can usually find me over @ Steamer's on Wed. & Thurs. nights. I ride w/ a lot of retired Marines: Ray from BFT Auto, KJ, et al. PM me & we'll get together this week. AJ

ps Was that your Jester @ Sav HD this weekend that I left a card on?

Got my First SE Ultra model in between Christmas and New Years.  This is my 3rd HD and looking forward to many miles on this bike.  Looking to do a Stage I once the 500 miles are on the bike. Any advice on how to keep it out of the dealership and on the road would be great.  I read alot about the 110 engine in the Ultras here on this site, are having problems.  Sure doesn't give that warm and fuzzy feeling for the trips I have planned over the next year.
Thanks,
TimBone

Welcome to this fantastic site.....You will find a lot of advise for technical issues and how to spend $$$$

Ride safe,

Rob, you got it!  I am headed to Key West in March for St Patty's day, will be picking the wife up in Ft Lauderdale on the bike and continuing through to the keys.  Man I love the Florida weather and people and have a sister in Tampa.  She loves it there too.
