103 high performance vs. 103+super highperformance
« on: May 08, 2006, 10:14:44 PM »

i guess i havn't been doing my homework lately, what are the differences between the 103 high performance engine, which i assume i have on my serk and the 103+ super high performance engine?  also can i put the 50mm throttlebody on my 03 serk? will it require a power commander, chip etc. i currently have my serk set up with the performance pipes, chip and air cleaner kit. my dealer tonight thought he remembered that the fins had to be trimmed to fit the 50mm. what kind of performance gains, gas milage can i expect and is it worth it, and what  other mods do i need to make to benefit fully from the 50mm efi throttlebody. thanks   scre

If you change to the 50mm throttle body you will have to remap! The gains in a stock motor are not worth it. HP will gain and TQ will decline slightly. The difference in the 2 103's are basicly compression. Ours is 9 to 1 and the 103+ is 10.5 to 1. There is a lot going on as far as performance goes with our stock motors. Zippers has been working on complete 103 and 113 packages for a while now. I believe the 103 package is about done or very close. The complete package consists of cams, your heads CNCed, higher comperssion pistons, 50mm throttle body and a different exhaust. You can contact them at WWW.ZIPPERSPERFPRMANCE.COM

I might suggest the 49 / 51 mm over the 53 its really a huge throttle body.   I have the one from my wrecked bike sitting here at the house.   If you talk to Jeff at HP Inc he may be able to work something out for you.   Just my 2 cents from being down this 10.5 to 1 route and the 9.0 route with little work done and with lots of work done :)

Harley's 50 mm won't support cruise control although HP Inc and Zippers both do as well I have checked it but heard the Kuryakin does as well.

If you step up to ported/cnc heads then the 50mm tb is a must.
