I consider my self a traditionalist as well but what i meant was a modern addition to the actual line not just change the touring line completely.A FLHVSRC maybe?lol [smiley=drink.gif]

Looks about 1/2 goldwing, 1/3 beemer and a little left over for the V-twin. Good luck to them, but I won't be buying one.  [smiley=thumbdown.gif]

Different and probably beautiful in some people's eyes...but, you won't see one of these "tourers" in my garage or under my butt for that matter.   Too much black & orange in my arteries I guess.

Ok, actually really really like the dash and center instrument area of the inside of the fairing.  However.....

Absolutely hate the rest of the "sweep" of outboard remainder of the fairing and nearly gag on nearly every extrernal line that is the outside of the fairing, center cladding, the bags and the rest of the rear.

The thing looks scooterish in those areas.  Like a little bike that was never intended to grow up but was put on steroids or a gender confused Yamaha Venture that spent too much time in the weight room.

Like on the Yamaha Star line-up, the dash and speedo are cool and the shape of the headlight. Then it gets typically metric, all puffed up looking and the scale of things is not in proportion.

When I first looked at it, I thought it was a  motor scooter.  The fairing is swept down to the floor board area reminds me of a futuristic Vespa.

I looked and looked at it and just couldn't picture myself growing accustom to that look!! [smiley=rolleyes2.gif] I'm for some out of the box thinking, but I think they threw the box away on that one.  I agree with Hoist, I'm too much of a traditionalist to go for a ride like that and that this would be my last HOG if they go that route.  If the MoCo wants to experiment with a ride and come up with the overly-used phrase "Euro-look", they could try it out on a V-Rod tourer, but don't change the big twins!!!!  I fear the EPA is going to kill the big twins all to soon anyway, I hope the MoCo doesn't hasten that demise by coming up with a space craft looking tourer.  I don't think Willie G. would go that far out of the box. [smiley=nervous.gif]  The closest I'll come to one of those is when they open the new Victory dealership in my city...I'll go there just out of curiosity and to park THE American V-Twin out front.  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]  Sorry for the rant...
Cheers [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif],

Hey with the styling genious like Willie G why would HD look at what others are doing.  Almost all other Vtwins have had 100plus cubic inch motors for a while Hd still playing catch up.

Not my taste for sure, the rear is simple ugly!  Because they are built in it looks like you can not change to aftermarket pipes, the rear is really bad looking.

That's what I was thinking too.  Those rear bags look like a modified version of the Corbin Beetle Bags.  I wonder if they had any hand in the design of Victory's tourer. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Don't like the looks of that at all, other than the inside part of the upper fairing and the gauge/instruments.

I will say that Victory does have some nice looking cruisers though, and they have recently come out with a Hammer S version that looks nice as well.  Brembo brakes come stock (six pistons on front), etc, etc, etc....

It is only a matter of time before they make a Revo based touring model in the HD lineup...the motor is already there...bump a Revo up to 1550, come up with some bags that flow with the tank lines on the Vrod, a road glide type fairing, better suspension. "Bigger" bike.  They've already got the 5 gallon tank now.  Not as a replacement for the big V's, but an alternative for those who like how a V runs.  It would be hard to knock a 140HP Vrod based touring bike if it was done right.  While these motors will turn 9K + RPM, they still pull hard from 3K up, even in 5th gear...put a six speed in a 1550... :o :o

Wouldn't be for everyone, but there would be a market out there for it, IMO.

They are going the wrong way if they are going after the Harley market. By the look of this bike I know they arent. But if they made bikes more similar to the E-Glide and the Ultra...some who are fed up with the MOCO pricing and support...may jump ship. I have had quite a few problems on my new SEUC but I am still on board. They would have to do a whole lot better than this to even get a token site visit. JMHO>

I'd be curious about the amount of storage that is usable on the Victory. One never has enough room to start with. :)

It's not for me either but will probably sell well in Japan.  The Corbin Yamaha looks a lot better than the Victory.

It could just be me but does anyone else think that they have alot of Arlen Ness like lines? You think he had anything to do with these disigns? I'm sure the fact that they've helped push the Victory line-up has helped that moco out alot.

I showed the pictures to my wife and she said that they look like big scooters to her. Some one on the site has already said the same thing. That's certainly not the reaction that Victory was after. I was really curious to see what they would come up with, I think they missed big time. The only thing that will save it would be a gazillion gadgets with a really cheap price tag. I think Harley's touring line-up is safe. A little serious competition wouldn't have hurt.

Arlen and Cory Ness designed the Victory Vegas to name one model. They have a contract with Polaris for conceptual design. The Victory team takes Ness' ideas and works them into a mass market platform

:-X I guess that I’m too old fashioned, only one bike works for me in design, looks and sound. Can’t see myself on one; however, some of those features would be nice, I for one, would like to see ABS on all ultras and full range mapping of the fuel curves on the engine ECM’s. Even with practice, an ABS bike would still stop quicker and in better control than the best rider.  Hope HD is listening and brings some new technology to the market.

H-D has the technology. So far its only offered on the police bikes though. I have no I dea why they haven't  filtered it out to some of the touring line yet.

SO, you take a air cooled motor and wrap as much plastic and fiberglass as possible and hope that it doesn't overheat?

I LOVE the look of my Harley and think it is really cool that I can look at Harleys from the past fifty plus years and see the family resemblance. If I wanted a swept back space ship, I would have shopped metric to begin with.

Some may find the bike good looking, I see a desperate attempt to capture a different market after failing to conquer Harley's market niche. [smiley=soapbox.gif]

I saw the Victory bagger during Az Bike week.  It's a cross between a goldwing and the large bmw touring bike.  The Az dealer claims to have 41 refundable deposits when the bike is produced later this year.  It is an air cooled V twin with 6 speed .  I asked if it had ABS or linked brakes and was advised he is not allowed to give any specs on the bike as the final version has not yet been determined.  This bike has more plastic than Toys R Us

They are oviously trying to straddle the line between a Wing and a Glide. While we here love our Harley's, Most would admit that todays Wing's are fantastic machines. But a Wing and a Glide are two different beasts. If you were to cross them would you take the air cooled V-twin motor and Wing plastic body and lines? One could argue the opposite would be a better route.  Victory could have scooped HD by creating the liquid cooled v-rod road glide style machine, attracting both some Wingers and HD guys. This thing I could see a few yuppies and Beemer guys trying, but I wouldn't get off a new Wing or Glide for this.

I guess you summed it up pretty good.Wings are tempting with all the gizmos and stuff but some say why not ride a civic instead of a wing lol :drink:

What is that, a rumble seat? I test rode a Victory Hammer this weekend. I thought it was a pretty nice machine.

The touring bike doesn't look to great from the pictures though. I thought it was a Vespa when I first saw it.

More builders are now getting in on the upcoming so-called "bagger craze".  Look at this futuristic one coming later this year from Big Bear Choppers.  IMO it's not as fugly as the Victory Bagger, but close... http://www.bigbearchoppers.com/#

It's not my cup of tea but at least the gen ryu model is an interesting exercise in design. Definetely has lines similar to cars of the 40's and even vintage trains. Interesting, but maybe pointless.

Looking back at the 100 years or so of the motorcycles history, a bike is a bike. I mean whether its a cafe racer, a sport touring rig or a Harley E-glide, take off the fairings and other stuff and you can still see the heritage that goes back to a board track racer. Strip my SEEG down and I can see the same basic outline of an old Montessa my dad had.

I guess bikes are like people. Whether your from Atlanta, Ga or the country of Georgia your the same basic setup, some may be in better shape than others, some a lil bigger, some a lil faster, the biggest difference is in the clothes we wear - or our bikes wear. So, looking into the future, say 20 years, would you expect the new bikes on the showroom floor to look much different than what we ride today? I wouldn't, look back 20 years and they're not much different.

It's kind of neat and comforting to think about, 100 years ago someone got just about the same rush I got yesterday riding a scooter to the next town 30 miles north of here, only he probably had a better reason to than I did. I just needed some diet coke :)
