SEC probing Harley-Davidson's lowered shipment targets (HDI) By Steve Goldstein
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- Harley-Davidson Inc. (HDI) said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that the staff of the SEC's Enforcement Division is looking into its April 13 statement, when it lowered motorcycle shipment targets and limited production growth. Harley-Davidson said it wasn't surprised by the inquiry given the shareholder lawsuits into the same announcement. It said it was cooperating with the SEC probe.

Two articles in the new edition of Motorcycle Consumer News (just got it in the mail tonight) one about this lawsuit by the stockholders and one about the lawsuit that HD filed last month against S&S and Delkron Mfg.   I guess Allen sold it just in time.

Will be very interesting to see if he sold it prior to or after the actual in house decision to decrease the production numbers was established.  If before, he may be spending some quiet time with several other high profile CEO's who manipulated accumulated stock sales just prior to "retirement".  Good to see that the new and improved, knowledgable stockholders are taking a firm position instead of the "rollover" attitude of the 90's.

Allen (was president of the local charter of Red & White, for a lot of years) owned Delkron Mfg.  They made engine and transmission cases.  After Delkron was sold, HD sent a letter to them and S&S claiming that they were using proprietary patented and copyrighted information to make their products and were asked to stop.  I assume they did not and now HD has filed suit against the two.  JMHO
