Got some areas on the heads where the black power coat has worn through - possibly from cleaning oil residue from leaking head gasket. Anyone have ideas of best way to touch up these areas.

Jerry, I think that would be an issue to take up for warranty replacements, or at least bring up with the dealer to fix.

MOCO makes a spray paint for the silver engines so they may have one for the black.

There is a black engine paint also. It won't be as durable as powder coat, but should be a reasonable match. I would let the MoCo deal with it under warranty; their leak caused it, they should fix it.

Jerry...is the black actually worn off? My V had a spot that appeared that way, but some of the engine brightner stuff brought the black back out. If it's worn off, I'd make HD fix it, though they'd probably want to keep it a week to touch up the color... ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. With over 18k on the bike now I think I would be pushing on a string to get it fixed under warranty. Dealer might agree to paint if there is touch up paint. I'll check. No way I'm going to push for a new head and have it down and torn down again. Twice is enough (I hope!).

Ditto Chuck, great meeting you also. I did go to the town hall meeting and talked to Gary (I think that was his name) who you also spoke with. Never heard of leaking head gasket problem on the 110s. Said he mainly works production on the 96s. Gave me same name he gave you to contact at the moco. But I've spoken and emailed him several times already. It is fixed for now and hope springs eternal that it won't leak again. Time will tell.

Why wouldn't you pursue it under warranty. I know that you would hate to be without your bike again, but your bike is an '07 and the warranty is supposed to be for unlimited miles. I agree with it being the fault of the MOCO and the MOCO should make it right.

Well, I got a little more to add. Don't let them beat you down and make you settle for less than you being a satisfied customer. They should make this right.
I realized on the way back from Knoxville that I now need my third speedometer. I found myself doing 3000 RPM and 80 MPH and doing 3000 RPM and 90 MPH. I asked others in our group about our cruising speeds and they confirmed that my speedometer is completely whacked out. The thing is usesless. I'm just assuming that the tachometer is closed. The speedo and tach both were a mess before. I'm going in for my third unit. I'm not gonna just settle because I'm tired of being in the service department at Bumpus.
I've got over 3000 miles now on my '07. I've considered waiting until my rear head gasket starts leaking before taking the bike in again.

You can order a bottle of touch up for the black engine. It's actually a wrinke finish black paint to fix small chips in the powdercoat. I had a couple of minor assemlby nicks in the powdercoat and it worked fine. I don't know how you would deal with a larger area though.

I used it when I epoxied up my crankcase split - used it over about 1"2, and it matched just fine.

Thanks guys. Got a bottle of the touch-up paint. Just haven't had a chance to use it yet.
