Title: Intake Manifold Mis Alignment
Post by: ltank on February 07, 2020, 10:02:15 AM
My S&S V124 heads have small lip around the lower section of the intake ports. When you place the manifold in place with mounting hardware there's a step. Not a smooth transition to the heads. The inspection mirror shows. If the lip on the head is machined away the intake gasket will not seal correctly. Hmmm.

What’s the OD of the intake?   What intake flanges are you using?   Which gaskets are you using?    What does the outside of port picture look like where the flange and seal sit?

It's the stock heads and intake on a S&S V124. Even after torquing the heads down and taking care to bolt it all up the intake manifold lines up a little better. The flat machined section of the head intake port is the same diameter as the stock manifold. I believe it's a bad casting.

Motor has 36k miles, it started off as a S&S V124 LC
Custom built by S&S special order. I later updated 585 cam to 600, got new beehive Springs that broke then went to Fueling Endurance beehive Springs  and one of those failed, 5I miles later.
Screw Beehive Springs I have Dual Springs with Dampers now. Going with Powerhouse 595E cam.
Almost exactly same timing as 640 cam but a 595 lift
Now has 10.8:1 flat top pistons
