Clean Enough?
« on: March 31, 2008, 05:59:15 PM »

OK Experts!  Grade me!  Is Thumper Clean?

She was a nasty Girl when we got home from CHL yesterday morning.  Since she is going to sit for awhile, I had to make sure she's clean.

Mine isn't that clean on the bottom side.  How long did it take?

2.5 hours for the entire motorcycle to include detail.  About 30 minutes for the just the bottom to include detail.   Waited 24 hours before covering to allow everything to dry.  Took these pictures right before posting them.

It really isn't too difficult to clean the bottom.  Brite Max Grime-Away, a soft bristle scrub brush, a bottle brush (or one of those H-D wheel and tire brushes), Glare Ultra Wash, and copious amounts of water gets the gunk and grime off.  Detail involves nothing more than an old, wet microfiber cloth...........one you don't intend to use on paint, the occasional Q-tip, and a good eye...............which evidently is going south on me.   ;D

Not too bad. Looks like a little more practice and you'll have it. Come on up and spend a couple of hours on mine and I think you'll be there.   8) :cherry:

Henry, that's cleaner than my bike AFTER I wash it.  I'm afraid to look under mine.  I'd probably have to start with a gasket scraper!

Last time I saw the bottom side of your ride it had the remains of a dead cat off to the side of a drain plug.

when reggab dropped his bike with me to do his motor, i did the usual walk around looking for damage. (i take photos of scratches and da-like to protect myself from the customer that says "it wasnt like that when i dropped it off") noticing how clean the bike was, i was very worried working on this bike. must have used three rolls of tape to protect paint and chrome. LOL

when we delivered the bike to him (7 hrs in a 1 ton 4x4) opened the drop gate on the bike hauler and the hinges had broke on one of the bunks, and the bunk had landed on the side of the bike! henry freaked, i freaked, i had a panic attack, couldnt talk, tried to faint but couldnt. finally got out a few words --i will take care of it. henry was already locked and loaded and i felt the laser on my forehead. man that 7 hr ride back to the shop was looonnngggggg!

when i was in ICU at Christmas, i kept thinking "this room is really clean, henry musta been here" !!!!!!!!!!!!

Been on both sides of this kinda stuff and you know its always the bike that is well taken care of, never one you picked up because it was wrecked on in bad shape.

Dennis is that what put you in ICU? When I felt the laser on my forhead I would have asked Henry if I could turn around so I wouldnt see it comin hehehehe I really know how you and Henry felt.

I feel better now  :P

When my buddy (LtBawb) and I went went to Rhode Island to pick up his new to him 05 SEEG I said we'll take my truck and trailer, it's a great trailer, smooth riding and ready go and will be better then renting some POS.

So, 250+ miles up and 250 + mile back and somewhere, I believe in NYC on that POS road they call a highway, I95, the bike must have bounced up at the the same time the transition flap bounced up, the bike landed on the flap and put a nice big dent in the bottom of the fender.

Had that same sinking feeling ..........................

I have since moved the flap.
