Washed it and it wouldn't start...
« on: March 19, 2009, 12:58:35 PM »

Yesterday I gave my SEUC a good cleaning.  After I was done I went to start it, and the starter cranked but no fire.  I checked all of the obvious electrical connections and used compressed air to blow any remaining water out of connections and controls, but still no joy.  I was getting a DTC light so I pulled out the MasterTune and retrieved them and saw that it was an open coil primary on both cylinders.  I looked at the connection (see attached picture) and sure enough, it was partially unplugged.  I guess that while wiping around the starter I inadvertently unlocked it and pushed it out.  The lock is on the bottom of the connection and by pushing a towel or chamois in there it was pretty easy to do.  Just in case it ever happens to you, it may save you a trip to the dealer...

Good job finding the problem like that.  Now get back to cleaning...it looks like you missed a few spots.

Sorry...couldn't resist the opportunity. It's not too often I see any dirt on these bikes, except on mine.  I can't seem to keep mine clean, even if it stays in the garage.

Might be worth installing a safety clip or little 'tab' to hold it down and in place.  spyder
